Arizona not ready to promote Archie Bradley to majors
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4/15/14) There appears to be a difference of opinion between the Diamondbacks and the agent for starting pitcher prospect Archie Bradley

Jay Franklin, Bradley's agent, believes his client is ready for the majors, but Arizona general manager Kevin Towers disagrees.

"I think it's very apparent what is going on in Arizona," Franklin told FOX Sports Monday night. "Every ballplayer that is playing minor-league baseball works his tail off to get an opportunity to play in the big leagues. Archie Bradley has proven to the Diamondbacks organization that he has deserved that opportunity by keeping his mouth shut and letting his numbers speak for his chance to pitch in the major leagues."

Towers said he has two reasons for not bringing Bradley to the majors. He doesn't want Bradley to face added pressure during the team's poor start, and he feels Bradley has some work left to do after struggling in his final two spring training appearances.

"I would not bring him up in this environment the way we're playing," Towers said. "I know how it would be perceived if he came up: 'Archie is going to save us.' I don't want to do that to a 21-year-old kid.

"In spring training, if he had continued to deal, we would have started (the season) with him. His fastball command was not there in spring training. He'll even admit that. If it gets to the point where we straighten this thing out and it's a more positive environment here and he's throwing the ball well, we'll do it regardless of the (arbitration) clock."

Archie Bradley demoted by Diamondbacks
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(3/27/14) Diamondbacks premier pitching prospect Archie Bradley has been reassigned to minor league camp. The 21-year-old had been competing for the fifth spot in the rotation.

Bradley is expected to make an impact at the major league level at some point this season if he continues to pitch as well as he did in 2013. Bradley won 14 of 19 decisions with a 1.84 ERA, but has yet to perform beyond Double-A.

Archie Bradley worth stashing for the long haul
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(3/25/14) Archie Bradley appears to be out of the running as Diamondbacks fifth starter, but that doesn't mean you should turn the page on him in Fantasy. With the exception of Taijuan Walker, who already has a job when his shoulder allows him to return to the mound, Bradley is the pitching prospect to own this year and has perhaps a better chance of making an impact in mixed leagues than Gerrit Cole did at this time last year. Don't you wish you had stashed him ahead of time?

Unlike Cole, Bradley was legitimately in the mix this spring, putting him first in line for a team whose current starting rotation includes Bronson Arroyo, a 37-year-old currently battling a bulging disk, Brandon McCarthy, an oft-injured 30-year-old who has never thrown 180 innings in season and hasn't thrown even 140 since 2011, and Trevor Cahill, who followed up a disappointing 2013 with a disastrous spring and even worse debut in Australia. And Bradley's easiest path to the big leagues might actually be through Randall Delgado, who narrowly beat him out for the fifth job despite a couple more years of experience.

So how long would you give it? Six weeks? A month? Seems worth the wait for a pitcher of Bradley's caliber. Granted, he's had some control issues in the minors, but so did Cole. So has Yordano Ventura. For how soon we'll see him, you don't risk much investing a roster spot in Bradley. Among players destined for the minors to begin the year, he ranks right after George Springer for me.

Diamondbacks rotation taking shape?
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3/25/14) It appears Diamondbacks starting pitcher prospect Archie Bradley will have to wait a little longer to make his MLB debut. With Patrick Corbin out for the season due to elbow surgery, Randall Delgado is expected to join the rotation, according to FOX Sports Arizona.

Bradley and fellow pitching prospect Bo Schultz are expected to open the season at Triple-A Reno.

Brandon McCarthy will start Arizona's U.S. opener against the Giants Monday. He is expected to be followed by Wade Miley, Delgado, Bronson Arroyo and Trevor Cahill

The Diamondbacks have not announced their pitching plans moving forward, but McCarthy is to start Wednesday's exhibition game against the Cubs, and the others are scheduled to follow him this week, according to FOX Sports.

Injury to SP could open up opportunity for Archie Bradley
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3/16/14) The Diamondbacks revealed some disappointing news Sunday that starting pitcher Patrick Corbin is headed for a second opinion after an MRI showed damage to the UCL in his left elbow. Corbin's injury could open a spot in the rotation for highly touted pitching prospect Archie Bradley, who is competing with Randall Delgado for the final spot in the team's rotation, per USA Today.

Bradley is 2-1 with a 4.32 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in three starts this spring. He has struck out 10 batters and walked six in 8 1/3 innings.
