| Tyler Anderson 'a work in progress' |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (5/7/13) Rockies starting pitcher prospect Tyler Anderson tossed his second scoreless outing for Class A Modesto Monday, holding Bakersfield to two hits in six scoreless innings. Anderson struck out six.
The left-handed hurler, who is considered the Rockies' sixth-best prospect by MLB.com, is winless in seven starts (0-1), but he's struck out 36 batters in 39 2/3 innings. He's had trouble keeping the baseball in the park at times, allowing six home runs, and he's walked 10 batters.
"I wouldn't say I've been super successful so far," Anderson said, per MLB.com. "I've walked more guys [10 thus far] than I would've liked, and there have been balls that I left up in the zone. There's always time to make adjustments after every outing, and that's what I'm doing. It's still a work in progress."

| Anderson could be on fast track |
by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com (2/9/13) Despite making just 20 starts during his first professional season a year ago, Colorado pitching prospect Tyler Anderson earned an invitation to the major-league camp in spring training. The Rockies believe the move is the first step in what could become a rapid rise through the club's minor-league system. Anderson, 23, posted a 12-3 record and 2.47 ERA over 120 innings for Class A Asheville last season. "I like his demeanor -- he's very responsible and takes his job very seriously," Colorado player development director Jeff Bridich told MLB.com. "He thinks and reasons well on the mound, and shows a fearlessness up there. He does a really nice job of pitching, not getting caught up in throwing hard."
