| Joe Panik shifted to second base full-time |

(3/30/13) The Giants are transitioning shortstop Joe Panik to second base, full-time, according to the San Jose Mercury News. He will begin the season at Double-A Richmond.
Panik, who hit .188/.278/.188 in 18 plate appearances this spring, has only played shortstop since being selected in the first round of the 2011 amateur draft.

(3/2/13) Giants infield prospect Joe Panik made his spring debut as a pinch hitter in Saturday's contest against the Royals in Cactus League play. Panik had two at-bats, as he walked in the seventh inning and then popped out to Miguel Tejada in the ninth inning of a 9-5 defeat.
