Giants' Joe Panik hits two run shot Thursday

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(10/17/14) Giants infielder Joe Panik added another big hit Thursday against the Cardinals.

With a man on base in the bottom of the third, Panik belted an 88 mph cutter from Adam Wainwright out to right for a two-run shot that gave the Giants a lead. That lead wouldn't last, but the Giants would wind up winning in the bottom of the ninth. Panik finished 1 for 4, with one run scored and two RBI.

Joe Panik scores final run on wild pitch in series-clinching win

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(10/8/14) Giants second baseman Joe Panik went 2 for 4 with an RBI Tuesday and scored the final run of his team's 3-2 NLDS-clinching win on a wild pitch.

Panik, who also drove in a run on a groundout in the second inning, reached base in the seventh on a one-out single, and after the bases were loaded by another single and a walk, he dashed 90 feet on a ball that got by the catcher to put the Giants up for good. The pitcher then uncorked another wild pitch while trying to intentionally walk the man at the plate, and the new lead runner was gunned down trying to extend the lead.

Panik was just 0 for 10 in his previous two games after opening the postseason with two multihit performances. He and the Giants will face the Cardinals in the National League Championship Series.

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(10/1/14) Giants second baseman Joe Panik enjoyed a fantastic postseason debut Wednesday, going 3 for 5 in his team's 8-0 wild-card win over the Pirates.

Panik plugged a hole in the infield in the middle of the season, hitting .305/.343/.368 in 269 at-bats during the regular season. He figures to continue to occupy the second spot of the lineup in the National League Division Series, starting with Game 1 Friday in Washington.

Joe Panik torrid for Giants

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(9/10/14) Giants rookie second baseman Joe Panik racked up some strange numbers Tuesday night, but they were numbers that maintained a tremendous run.

Panik smacked five singles in five at-bats against Arizona, but neither scored nor drove in a run. The explosion gave him 20 hits in his last 10 games covering 54 at-bats. He has scored nine runs during that stretch and sweetened his stat line to .327/.369/.397.

Joe Panik racks up four hits in blowout win

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8/30/14) Giants shortstop Joe Panik snapped out of a slump Friday, with a four-hit game in a 13-2 win over the Brewers.

Panik, who had just three hits in his previous five games, went 4 for 6 Friday. He had one double and three singles, while scoring two runs in the win. He raised his season average to .312 with the performance.
