|by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer|
|(7/31/15) Giants second baseman Joe Panik has returned to the starting lineup for Friday's series-opener against the Rangers. Panik had missed the last two games due to a stiff back, but it seems he has healed up enough to go on Friday.
He'll bat second in the order as per usual for manager Bruce Bochy.

|(7/29/15) Giants second baseman Joe Panik was held out of Tuesday's game against the Brewers due to back stiffness, manager Bruce Bochy said. Bochy also said Panik will likely miss Wednesday's game, which would give him three days off with Thursday's scheduled off-day.
Panik has been hitting decently over the last several games, as he is batting .281 over his last 10 contests.

|(7/11/15) Giants second baseman Joe Panik had one of his best games of the season on Friday against the Phillies.
Panik went 4 for 6 with a home run and three RBI in what was an offensive explosion for the Giants. He hit a two-run blast, his seventh of the season, in the seventh inning against Phillies reliever Jeanmar Gomez.
Over his last three games, Panik is hitting .500 with seven hits, five runs, a home run and three RBI.
|2014 Summary: The Giants brought up Joe Panik in June to give him a shot at replacing Brandon Hicks at second base, and he took the job and ran with it. Panik started 66 of the remaining 87 games and batted .305 with 31 runs scored. Though the 23-year-old rookie displayed virtually no power (13 extra-base hits in 269 at-bats), he used his contact (12 percent strikeout per at-bat ratio) and line-drive hitting (26 percent rate) skills to bolster his batting average.|
Playing time status: Panik will be the presumptive starter at second base again in 2015, though Matt Duffy and Marco Scutaro (if healthy) could be around to offer a challenge, should he struggle.
2015 Outlook: If you like Scooter Gennett, you will probably love Panik, who projects to be a reliable .290ish hitter. He has a little less power than his Brewers counterpart, but he should walk more and platoon less. Owners in standard mixed leagues can afford to pass Panik up, but he's a nice fallback option in deeper formats.
