| Steve Delabar vulturing wins despite command issues |

(5/12/13) Blue Jays reliever Steve Delabar has been a reliable arm out of the team's bullpen in the early part of the season. The right-hander is 3-1 with a 2.14 ERA in 17 relief outings.
Delbar has one hold and two blown saves, but he's struck out 25 in 21 innings. His control, however, has been an issue at times. He's walked nearly as many batters (14) as he has hits allowed (15).

(8/14/12) Blue Jays reliever Steve Delabar became the first in major league history to strike out four batters in extra innings during the 10th inning of Monday's win over the White Sox. Delabar displayed a nasty breaking ball that got away from catcher Jeff Mathis to allow one of his Ks to reach. Delabar became the first Blue Jays pitcher to mow down four in an inning. He earned the win to improve to 3-1 on the year.

| Steve Delabar won a spot in the bullpen out of spring last season but posted a 5.18 ERA in 25 appearances before being sent to the minors in late May. He would be recalled in mid-June and was shipped to the Blue Jays at the trade deadline. The right-hander would pitch better north of the border and finished the year with a 3.82 ERA in 61 appearances. Delabar showed some appeal in Fantasy with his 92 strikeouts in 66 innings pitched but since he did not see many save chances, his value was minimal. The 29-year-old is expected to serve as a middle reliever for Toronto again in 2013 so plan on leaving Delabar for the deepest of AL-only formats on Draft Day. (Updated 1/10/13) |
