Giants cut 11 from big-league camp Wednesday

(3/12/14) The Giants made 11 cuts Wednesday, including optioning outfielder Gary Brown, infielder Adam Duvall and pitchers Jose De Paula and Michael Kickham to Triple-A Fresno.

The team also optioned pitchers Kendry Flores and Hunter Strickland to high Class A San Jose. Catcher Andrew Susac, infielder Chris Dominguez and pitchers Jason Berken, Mitch Lively and Mason Tobin were re-assigned to minor-league camp.

(3/12/14) The Giants announced Wednesday they reassigned reliever Jason Berken and reliever Mitch Lively to minor-league camp. They also optioned starting pitcher Jose De Paula and starting pitcher Michael Kickham to Triple-A Fresno, while starting pitcher Kendry Flores and reliever Hunter Strickland to Class A San Jose.

(11/27/13) The Giants have claimed pitcher Jose De Paula off waivers from the Padres, MLB.com reports. De Paula went 4-6 with a 3.86 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 57:11 K:BB ratio in 74 2/3 innings over 14 starts with Double-A San Antonio last season but was designated for assignment last Wednesday.

Padres add three to 40-man roster, DFA four

(11/21/13) The Padres added minor-league pitchers Keyvius Sampson, Juan Oramas and Donn Roach to the 40-man roster Wednesday. The team also designated outfielder Jaff Decker and pitchers Brad Brach, Miles Mikolas and Jose De Paula for assignment.

Sampson went 12-7 with a 3.57 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 135:62 K:BB ratio in 141 1/3 innings between Double-A San Antonio and Triple-A Tuscon last season. Oramas went 3-2 with a 3.07 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 64:16 K:BB ratio in 55 2/3 innings over 12 starts with Double-A San Antonio. Roach went 8-12 with a 3.53 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 77:40 K:BB ratio in 142 2/3 innings over 28 starts with Double-A San Antonio.

Decker went 4 for 26 with the Padres last season, hitting one home run and driving two in. Brach made 33 appearances for the Padres, going 1-0 with a 3.19 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 31:19 K:BB ratio in 31 innings. Mikolas made two scoreless appearances for the Padres. De Paula went 4-6 with a 3.86 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 57:11 K:BB ratio in 74 2/3 innings over 14 starts with Double-A San Antonio.
