| Cardinals send Sam Freeman to minors |

(3/26/13) The Cardinals optioned left-handed pitcher Sam Freeman to Triple-A Memphis, reports MLB.com Tuesday. The 25-year-old Freeman had a 27.00 ERA this spring over 1 1/3 innings. He made 24 appearances in relief for St. Louis last year and had a 5.40 ERA.

(3/24/13) Cardinals reliever Sam Freeman returned to action in Sunday's Grapefruit League contest against the Mets after missing time due to a shoulder impingement. He allowed two runs on one hit and a walk over one-third inning.
"I felt good. I just didn't get the job done today," Freeman told MLB.com. "I'm not going to use the time off as an excuse for expecting any different result."

(2/14/13) Cardinals reliever Sam Freeman, who was told by the team to develop a breaking pitch in the offseason, landed on a knuckle curve, which was on display for coaches Tuesday at camp. The staff walked away impressed. "It really looked good," manager Mike Matheny told the Post-Dispatch. "He cleared up his mechanics. He made the adjustments. He took a step forward.”
