(5/1/13) The Mariners recalled relief pitcher Lucas Luetge from Triple-A Omaha Wednesday. Luetge, who has a 8.31 ERA, 2.08 WHIP and three strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings from a previous stint with the Mariners this season, takes the roster spot of pitcher Blake Beavan.
Luetge pitched well in Triple-A before the promotion, striking out 19 batters in 11 innings while posting a 2.46 ERA and 1.18 WHIP.

(4/10/13) The Mariners announced Wednesday that relief pitcher Lucas Luetge has been optioned to Triple-A Tacoma.
Luetge allowed four earned runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out three batters in 4 1/3 innings during his four appearances with the Mariners. Relief pitcher Bobby LaFromboise was re-called in a corresponding move.

(3/27/13) Mariners mangers Eric Wedge confirmed Wednesday that pitcher Lucas Luetge will open the season in the Mariners bullpen, according to the Seattle Times. Luetge has allowed four earned runs on 12 hits and two walks in nine spring innings while striking out 13 batters. He spent all of 2012 with the Mariners, posting a 3.98 ERA in 40 2/3 innings over 63 appearances.

(8/22/12) Mariners reliever Lucas Luetge notched his second save of the season during Tuesday's contest against the Indians. Luetge came on in the eighth inning with two outs in relief of Felix Hernandez and was able to record the final four outs in the 5-1 win. He is 2 for 2 in save chances on the year.

Mike Trout hit for the cycle and drove in five runs, Josh Hamilton celebrated his 32nd birthday with a homer and a triple, and Howie Kendrick also went deep in the Los Angeles Angels' 12-0 rout of the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.

Jason Kipnis' three-run homer in the 10th inning gave the Cleveland Indians a 6-3 win over the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.

| Lucas Luetge broke camp with the Mariners last season and had a decent first campaign in the majors. The left-hander went 2-2 with a 3.98 ERA in 63 appearances and converted 2 of 3 save chances. He also struck out 38 in 40 2/3 innings pitched and held left-handed hitters to a .193 average. Luetge will again serve as a situational lefty for Seattle in 2013 and while he might see a couple of save chances, his appeal in Fantasy will be minimal. Plan on leaving the 25-year-old for the deepest of AL-only formats on Draft Day. (Updated 1/10/13) |
