(9/13/14) Reds starter Daniel Corcino turned in a quality start Friday against the Brewers.
Corcino allowed two runs on two hits over six innings. He struck out four and walked one during the outing. He allowed both his runs in the fourth inning. After a drop third strike put Carlos Gomez on second to open the inning, Corcino gave up a run-scoring single to Jonathan Lucroy. A wild pitch put Lucroy on second, allowing him to score on a single by Ryan Braun. Despite the issues, Corcino managed to throw two more scoreless innings before leaving the game.
The Reds mounted a comeback, taking Corcino off the hook. He’ll take on the Cubs if he gets another start.

|Daniel Corcino gets the call from Double-A |
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
(8/22/14) The Reds recalled pitch Daniel Corcino from Double-A Pensacola Friday, the team announced.
Corcino will be making his major-league debut the first time he appears in a game with the Reds. The 23-year-old has a 4.13 ERA In 143 2/3 innings at Double-A this season, and will likely serve as bullpen depth for the Reds.
|According to most prospect rankings, Daniel Corcino was right up there with Tony Cingrani at this time last year. Boy, what a difference a year makes. While Cingrani broke into the majors and became a Fantasy darling with his eye-popping strikeout potential, Corcino floundered in his first stint at Triple-A, going 7-14 with a 5.86 ERA and 1.66 WHIP in 28 appearances, including 23 starts. What went wrong for him is a matter of speculation. His shaky control certainly didn't help, but it shouldn't have been his undoing. For the most part, scouts were penciling him in as the next Johnny Cueto. Corcino wouldn't be the first pitching prospect to recover from a rocky season at Triple-A. Julio Teheran did it just last year -- and in the majors, no less. But because Corcino was a lesser prospect to begin with and won't have a rotation spot available to him this spring, he has a longer road back to respectability. Outside of dynasty leagues, you have no reason to invest in him.
