Confidence returns for Larry Greene
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(6/30/13) Phillies outfield prospect Larry Greene is settling into a groove offensively for Class A Lakewood. After batting under .200 through the first two months of the season, Greene is batting .272 in 22 June games and is batting .316 in his last 15 games.

"I just had to get my confidence back up," Greene said, per The Philadelphia Inquirer. "I was struggling and getting down on myself a lot. I talked to quite a few people who told me to stay confident and stay positive."

Phillies remain confident in struggling prospect

(6/16/13) Phillies outfield prospect Larry Greene is having a brutal season for low Class A Lakewood. The 2011 supplemental first-round pick is batting a disappointing .187 through 45 games, tarnishing his reputation as one of the team's top prospects.

Greene entered the season as the Phillies' sixth-best prospect, according to MLB.com.

"I have spoken with Larry, and he needs to turn things around," director of player development Joe Jordan told The Philadelphia Inquirer. "I believe that's about to happen based on what I've seen in recent days. We're going to hang in there with them."

Phils confident in Greene's skills
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(2/4/13) MLB.com reports Phillies director of player development Joe Jordan feels 2011 supplemental first-round pick Larry Greene hasn't yet scratched the surface of his potential. "It (2012) was his first full season as a pro. It was a challenge early, to say the least," Jordan said Greene, who hit .272 with a .381 slugging percentage in 70 games at low Class A. "It was a challenge because he needed to learn what it meant to be a professional in many ways. He didn't know what kind of physical shape to come into camp in, and we needed to build a base for him. I felt that when he went to Williamsport, Larry Greene took total ownership of his game. I was really proud of what he did -- the doubles, the walks. The power (two homers) is the least of our concerns. I have no question about the fact that this guy's going to hit for power, but I love that he went up and tried to be a hitter."
