Giants cut seven from big-league camp Friday

(3/21/14) The Giants optioned pitchers Heath Hembree, Erik Cordier and Jake Dunning to Triple-A Fresno Friday.

Hembree allowed just one earned run on one hit and two walks in four innings while striking out five in five Cactus League appearances this spring.

The Giants also reassigned catcher Guillermo Quiroz, first baseman Mark Minicozzi and pitchers Brett Bochy and Adam Reifer to minor-league camp Friday.

Giants plan to recall eight players

(9/2/13) The San Francisco Giants announced Monday they will be recalling eight players from the minors on Tuesday prior to a game at San Diego, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The following players will be brought up from various levels of the minors: Infielders Nick Noonan and Ehire Adrianza; outfielders Francisco Peguero and Juan Perez; relievers George Kontos, Jake Dunning and Heath Hembree; and catcher Johnny Monell.

(7/26/13) The Giants optioned reliever Jake Dunning to Triple-A Fresno Friday, to make room on the active roster for Joaquin Arias' return from the disabled list.

Dunning had a 2.84 ERA with 14 strikeouts and six walks in 19 innings of work with the Giants.  

Giants make handful of roster moves

(6/13/13) The San Francisco Giants made a handful of roster moves Thursday, recalling catcher Hector Sanchez and reliever Jake Dunning, designating reliever Ramon Ramirez and optioning first baseman Brett Pill

Sanchez was hitting .320 in Triple-A and Dunning had a 1.75 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 36 Triple-A innings. 

Ramirez pitched 5 2/3 innings for the Giants out of relief, giving up seven earned runs. Pill hit .148 in 27 at-bats for San Francisco, with a home run and two doubles. 

Giants ship 20 players to minors

(3/15/13) The San Francisco Giants completed another round of roster cuts Friday, optioning pitchers Dan Otero, Jake Dunning, Chris Heston and Sandy Rosario, shortstops Ehire Adrianza and Nick Noonan and outfielders Roger Kieschnick and Juan Perez to Triple-A Fresno. Pitcher Edwin Escobar was sent to Class A San Jose. The team also reassigned Brett Bochy, Boof Bonser, Steve Edlefsen, Heath Hembree, Michael Kickham, Mitch Lively, Shane Loux, Ricky Oropesa, Adam Duvall, Brock Bond and Gary Brown to its minor-league camp.
