| Yan Gomes slugs 6th home run |
by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com (6/5/13) Indians catcher Yan Gomes slugged his sixth home run Wednesday against the Yankees in a losing effort.
The home run, a two-run shot off CC Sabathia, was Gomes's only hit. He hasn't shown much patience in Cleveland (.302 OBP), but he hasn't had to: his slugging percentage is a massive .610, and it's time to wonder if Cleveland will start getting creative to get his bat in the lineup.

| Yan Gomes gets three hits in win |
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com (5/30/13) Indians catcher/infielder Yan Gomes went 3 for 4 with a run and an RBI at catcher Thursday against the Reds. It was Gomes's second three-hit performance in his last five games.
Gomes doesn't have a clear path to playing time in Cleveland, seeing action in 12 games in May, but when he's played, he's hit. He has a .319 batting average and five home runs in 69 at-bats this season.

| Yan Gomes worth monitoring after all |
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer (5/24/13) Soon after his two-homer game Monday, I said Yan Gomes wasn't worth the trouble in Fantasy because he's a backup catcher. But he has homered once since then and seems to be getting more playing time, having started four of the Indians' last seven games.
Now, part of the reason was because Nick Swisher missed three games for the birth of his daughter. But Gomes clearly made an impression in Swisher's absence, and manager Terry Francona was singing his praises even before then.
Given the versatility up and down their lineup -- from Swisher to Carlos Santana to Mark Reynolds to Gomes himself -- the Indians could find creative ways to keep giving Gomes at-bats, perhaps sitting Drew Stubbs or Michael Brantley occasionally for him. He's most likely looking at no more than 3-4 starts per week, but as a poor man's Evan Gattis, he could factor in leagues that require starting two catchers.

| Yan Gomes confined to a reserve role |
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer (5/21/13) Even before his two home runs Monday, Yan Gomes had impressed the Indians with his bat -- enough that you could see them sticking with him as their backup catcher even when Lou Marson was ready to return from the DL.
But if a best-case scenario for Gomes is a backup catcher role, the 25-year-old doesn't have much utility in Fantasy.
Granted, the Indians' starting catcher, Carlos Santana, often sees time at first base and DH, so Gomes would play more than the average backup catcher, but we're talking no more than two or three starts per week.
If you play in an AL-only league where each team starts two catchers, pick him up. Otherwise, leave him alone.

| Yan Gomes' two-homer game powers Indians to win |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (5/20/13) Indians catcher Yan Gomes homered twice, which included a three-run, walk-off home run in the 10th inning of Monday's 10-8 win against the Mariners. Gomes also clubbed a solo home run in the second inning and finished 3 for 5.
Gomes, who has four home runs, extended his hitting streak to five games. He's batting .450 (9 for 20) with two home runs, two doubles and five RBI in that span.
