|(9/24/14) Red Sox third basmean Garin Cecchini went 1 for 3 with a walk and a solo home run in his team's 11-3 win over the Rays Wednesday.

|(9/17/14) Ballyhooed Cuban outfielder Rusney Castillo is far from the only promotion from Triple-A Pawtucket made by the Red Sox on Wednesday. But he is certainly the most significant.
The team has also brought up left-hander Edwin Escobar, right-hander Heath Hembree, third baseman Garin Cecchini, outfielder Bryce Brentz and catcher Ryan Lavarnway.

|(7/10/14) Red Sox prospect Garin Cecchini was removed from Wednesday's game for Triple-A Pawtucket after a home-plate collision, per WEEI.com. Cecchini suffered a shoulder injury on the play, but he felt fine after the game.
The Red Sox expect to know more about Cecchini's injury in the coming days, but the sense is that it's a minor ailment.
Garin Cecchini making great strides as an outfielder
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(6/30/14) Triple-A Pawtucket manager Kevin Boles said Red Sox prospect Garin Cecchini has made great strides since moving to the outfield, per WEEI.com.
"He’s done a nice job," Boles said. "Clean routes and first initial three steps have been pretty good. He’s still learning as far as reading the ball off the bats. Slicing away, top spin, line drive, positioning with the center fielder, engaging that way.
"He’s taken to it and he’s kept things in order from a throwing standpoint and doing some game management, and that’s just through experience. That’s the only way you can learn that, getting rehearsal, rehearsing in practice and making sure that it translates into the game, and I think it’s something that is going to be a process. The first initial read that we’ve seen has been pretty impressive."
Garin Cecchini playing outfield for first time

|(6/22/14) Red Sox prospect Garin Cecchini will play left field for Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday, the first time in his pro career he's played somewhere other than third base, reports WEEI.com.
"I feel like I’m going to be a third baseman for a long time. That’s where I want to be. At the same time, if [manager] John Farrell comes up to me, [third base coach] Brian Butterfield, and says, 'Listen, we think you can get to the big leagues right now if you play wherever,’ I’m going," he told the website this spring. "All I want to do is get there and help this team win."
Highlighting top third base prospects for 2015
Third base may be losing its luster at the major-league level, but it's where you'll find some of the best prospects in the game right now. Scott White ranks the top 10 at the position.
