| Domingo Tapia suffers injury while cooking |

(5/11/13) Mets pitching prospect Domingo Tapia was placed on the 7-day disabled list at High-A St. Lucie due to an injury sustained in a cooking accident, according to ESPN.com.
Details are scarce, but Tapia is not expected to miss much time because the injury is on his non-throwing hand.
Tapia has a 2.23 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 32 1/3 innings this season. Mets vice president of player development and amateur scouting Paul DePodesta called the 21-year-old one of the team's top "under-the-radar" prospects coming into the season.

(5/6/13) Mets starting pitcher prospect Domingo Tapia tossed six shutout innings Sunday for Class A St. Lucie. However, Tapia remains winless in his last three starts despite not allowing more than two earned runs in any of those outings.
Tapia is 2-3 with a 2.23 ERA and .185 opponents' batting average in seven starts. He has struck out 28 and walked 13 batters in 32 1/3 innings. He has allowed one home run.
Tapia, who is considered the Mets' 11th-best prospect by MLB.com, has been working on incoporating a curveball into his repertoire this season and St. Lucie manager Ryan Ellis said "it's come along nicely."
"He's starting to trust it a lot more. Even when he's behind in the count, he's comfortable enough to mix it in. He's found control enough with it where he feels comfortable throwing it," Ellisa said, per MLB.com. "If he can control that fastball with heavy sink and mix in his curve to the other side of the plate, it doesn't matter how hard he's throwing. He's going to keep guys off balanced."

(3/28/13) Mets propsect Domingo Tapia was roughed up Thursday by the Nationals, as he allowed four runs on four hits and two walks over two innings.
Tapia, 21, ranks ninth among Mets' prospects according to Baseball America. He had a 3.98 ERA in 19 starts for Low-A Savannah last year with 101 strikeouts against 32 walks. He's expected to start the season at High-A St. Lucie.

(2/4/13) MLB.com reports Mets vice president of player development and amateur scouting Paul DePodesta considers right-handers Rafael Montero and Domingo Tapia to be under-the-radar prospects. "These guys have a chance to be really good," DePodesta said. "Montero's come around quickly. We signed him in January 2011 in the Dominican, and he's coming to major league camp. He's come through six levels already and hasn't missed a beat in any of them. Tapia's a bigger arm. He's touched 100 [mph] on occasion. He usually tops out at 97-98, with good command, good sinker, good changeup."
