|(3/11/14) The Mariners cut 11 players from major-league camp Tuesday, leaving them with 44 players left on the camp roster, MLB.com reports.
Five players were optioned to Triple-A Tacoma, including infielders Carlos Triunfel and Ji-Man Choi, catcher Jesus Sucre and pitchers Bobby LaFromboise and Logan Bawcom.
Six players were re-assigned to minor-league camp, including infielders Ty Kelly and Nate Tenbrik, catcher Mike Dowd and pitchers Logan Kensing, Matt Palmer and Nick Hill.
"They're all tough," manager Lloyd McClendon told MLB.com Tuesday. "Any time you've got to tell a young man that his dream is not going to come to fruition at this particular time, that's tough. They all work hard, they give us all they've got. I was very pleased. Like I told all of them, it wasn't performance based. The numbers are such that we have to start moving guys out, but their performances will not be forgotten, and at some point, they'll be back."
