Giants SP Chris Heston does not surrender a run Thursday
|by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com|
|(12:55 am ET) Making just the 10th start of his career, Giants pitcher Chris Heston tossed 7 1/3 scoreless innings during Thursday's 7-0 win over the Braves.
Heston left in the eighth inning after allowing a single to Andrelton Simmons and then getting an infielder’s choice groundout. He struck out six batters and walked one during the outing. He lowered his ERA from 4.33 to 3.82.
Thursday's impressive start for Heston (5-3) came after back-to-back poor outings. He has six quality starts in his first 10 starts. Heston is 3-0 in his last four starts. His next expected start is scheduled for Tuesday against the Pirates.
Giants SP Chris Heston gives up six runs, gets win on Saturday
|by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer|
|(5/23/15) Giants pitcher Chris Heston struggled in his start on Saturday against the Rockies. The rookie right-hander was tagged for six runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings. He walked two and struck out two. His offense bailed him out, however, as he was able to record his fourth win of the season.
Heston (4-3) served up a solo home run to Ben Paulsen in the bottom of the second. But most of the damage came in the fifth and sixth innings. Heston surrendered a solo home run to Nick Hundley and a two-run blast to Charlie Blackmon, each coming in the fith.
This makes back-to-back poor outings for Heston, who now sports a 4.33 ERA. He has been solid for most of the season, posting quality starts in five of his nine starts so far. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next start, scheduled for Thursday against the Braves.
