| Prospect Chris Heston exposed in spring |
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (3/22/13) Giants pitching prospect Chris Heston has impressed in his minor-league career so far, but he has been exposed in his time with the big-league team in spring training so far. The Rockies teed off on him Friday in Cactus League action, his second start of the spring. Heston allowed five runs in four innings of work, on five hits and three walks. He allowed a two-run home run to Carlos Gonzalez in the first inning. He struck out just two batters in the game, as his ERA rose to 9.28 on the spring.
Heston posted a 2.24 ERA in 148 2/3 innings in Double-A Richmond last season, and will likely begin the season with Triple-A Fresno.

| Giants ship 20 players to minors |
by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com (3/15/13) The San Francisco Giants completed another round of roster cuts Friday, optioning pitchers Dan Otero, Jake Dunning, Chris Heston and Sandy Rosario, shortstops Ehire Adrianza and Nick Noonan and outfielders Roger Kieschnick and Juan Perez to Triple-A Fresno. Pitcher Edwin Escobar was sent to Class A San Jose. The team also reassigned Brett Bochy, Boof Bonser, Steve Edlefsen, Heath Hembree, Michael Kickham, Mitch Lively, Shane Loux, Ricky Oropesa, Adam Duvall, Brock Bond and Gary Brown to its minor-league camp.

| (2/15/13) Giants prospect Chris Heston is in his first big-league camp this spring and wasted no time making an impression. His first bullpen session on Friday drew some rave reviews from manager Bruce Bochy, according to MLB.com. "He commands the ball well and has good sink on it," Bochy said of Heston. "I know it's just [throwing in the] bullpen, but this is his first big league camp."
