| Phillies demote Tyler Cloyd |
by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer (6/13/13) The Phillies demoted starter Tyler Cloyd on Thursday, replacing him on the roster with reliever Jake Diekman.
Cloyd, 26, had a 3.41 ERA and 1.51 WHIP over six starts for the Phillies. The 2012 International League Pitcher of the Year was on a bit of a hot streak lately, with a 1.45 ERA in his last three starts. Cloyd became expendable with John Lannan expected to return from the DL on Monday and start against the Nationals.

| Tyler Cloyd allows one run in five innings |
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com (6/12/13) Phillies starting pitcher Tyler Cloyd surrendered just one earned run on six hits and three walks in five innings while striking out two and throwing 99 pitches in a no-decision Wednesday against the Twins.
Cloyd has now given up two runs or less in five of his six starts this season but has just a 2-2 record to show for the low-scoring efforts. He brings a 3.41 ERA into Monday's start against the Nationals.

| Tyler Cloyd pitches around wildness in win |
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (6/7/13) Phillies starting pitcher Tyler Cloyd pushed his own record to .500 and got his team a game over Thursday, with a 5-1 win over the Brewers.
Cloyd tossed 6 2/3 shutout innings, pitching around some wildness in the process. Cloyd walked five batters, a career-high, but he held the Brewers hitless with runners in scoring position. He struck out just two batters, but held the Brewers to four hits.
Cloyd is now 2-2 on the season through five starts, with a 3.68 ERA in 29 1/3 innings of work. He has 16 strikeouts and 12 walks, and has quality starts in four of his outings. He will try to continue his solid pitching in his next start, scheduled for Wednesday in Minnesota.

| Tyler Cloyd drops second straight |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (6/1/13) Phillies starting pitcher Tyler Cloyd turned in a decent performance but was tagged with his second loss of the season Saturday against the Brewers.
Cloyd (1-2), who made his first start at home, surrendered a two-run single to Logan Schafer in the second and a run-scoring triple to Jean Segura in the fifth for his only damage of the afternoon. The right-hander was charged with three runs -- two earned -- on eight hits and one walk while striking out three in seven innings of work in a 4-3 defeat.
Cloyd will get another crack at the Brewers Thursday in Milwaukee. He is 1-1 with a 5.74 ERA away from Citizens Bank Park.

| Tyler Cloyd hit hard vs. Red Sox |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (5/27/13) Phillies starting pitcher Tyler Cloyd was pegged with his first loss of the season during Monday's start against the Red Sox.
Cloyd (1-1) surrendered home runs to Dustin Pedroia and Mike Napoli in the opening frame. He was charged with three more runs in the third and was replaced by Michael Stutes with one out in the frame. Cloyd allowed six runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out one in 2 1/3 innings in a 9-3 defeat.
Cloyd has a 5.74 ERA and a 1.60 WHIP in three starts. He is scheduled to make his next start Saturday at home against Milwaukee.

| Even with a dazzling run of awesome ERA (2.77, 2.26) and WHIP (1.05, 1.01) numbers in the last two seasons, Tyler Cloyd looks to be the odd man out in Philadelphia's rotation for 2013, bumped by the addition of John Lannan. On the surface, Cloyd's brief stint in the majors last year looks relatively nondescript (2-2, 4.91 ERA), but he had a solid 1.21 WHIP and struck out 30 batters in 33 innings. Cloyd, 25, is a great option in keeper leagues and makes for a decent gamble in NL-only formats, as he is just one injury away from being elevated into the Phillies' rotation. And at that point, he could return some nice value as a late-round pick. (Updated 1/4/13) |
