| Prospect Albert Almora slowed by wrist injury |
by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com (3/15/13) Cubs outfield prospect Albert Almora is expected to be sidelined for at least a month after breaking the hamate bone in his wrist while taking swings at minor-league camp on Thursday, MLB.com reports. Almora, the sixth overall pick in last year's MLB draft, already is heralded as the 18th-best prospect in the minors by Baseball Prospectus. Boasting a five-tool skill set, the 18 year old posted a .321 batting average with 15 extra-base hits across two lower levels in the minors last season.

| Almora headed to Class A |
| (8/14/12) The Cubs promoted prospect Albert Almora from the Mesa Rookie League team to Class A Boise on Tuesday. Almora, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2012 draft, went 19 for 46 (.413) with seven RBI and a .522 slugging percentage over his final 10 games at Mesa. Hes done a real nice job the last week to 10 days, President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein told MLB.com. For him, it was a matter of getting his timing down. He has a leg kick, and sometimes those guys have to see a lot of live pitching to get their timing locked in. He can drive the ball all over the field recently. We think hes pretty advanced for an 18-year-old.
