| Mets add Collin McHugh to the bullpen |

(5/14/13) The Mets have called up pitcher Collin McHugh from Triple-A Las Vegas prior to Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.
McHugh went 3-2 with a 2.74 ERA as a starter at Triple-A, but will be used a reliever in the majors. He threw 102 pitches Sunday and will not be available to pitch Tuesday night, according to ESPN.

(5/13/13) As the Mets' top pitching prospect, Zack Wheeler has deservedly garnered nearly all of the attention at Triple-A Las Vegas this season. However, Collin McHugh has also stood out for the 51s and is trying to work past the sour impression he left during his major-league debut a year ago.
The 25-year-old righty, who went 0-4 with a 7.59 ERA in eight games (four starts) with New York late last season, recorded his third win Sunday against Albuquerque (Dodgers). He permitted a run and six hits over seven innings -- the third time in the past four outings he has worked seven innings -- to shave his ERA to a solid 2.74 in the Pacific Coast League, notoriously regarded as a hitter's league.
"Honestly it's just keeping the ball down, keeping the ball out of the middle of the plate," McHugh told MLB.com. "You're going to give up your fair share of dinks and dunks in this league, some fly balls are going to get out, some are going to end up being doubles to the wall. That's what I've been trying to do. I'm not trying to overpower guys, I'm not trying to change what I do."

| (2/25/13) Mets pitcher Collin McHugh is competing for a rotation spot that spring and made his Grapefruit League debut on Monday against the Nationals. He allowed three runs on six hits over 2 1/3 innings in the 6-4 loss.
