(2/25/13) White Sox prospect Andre Rienzo, who has been named the opening game starter in the World Baseball Classic for Team Brazil, saw some time on the mound in Cactus League action Monday versus the Giants. Rienzo did not fare well, however. He couldn't record a single out and allowed five earned runs on three hits and two walks. Rienzo next pitches on Saturday against Team Japan in the WBC.

(2/21/13) White Sox pitcher Andre Rienzo, who pitched two innings in the White Sox’s intrasquad game Thursday, was named the opening day starter for Brazil in the World Baseball Classic in March, according to ESPN.com. "He's got sink to his fastball, he's got a good breaking ball, above average velocity. Then he competes," White Sox assistant general manager Buddy Bell said. "The one thing that he's had to work on more than anything is he has instincts but just because he hasn't played a whole lot, he's had to kind of, he gets a little bit analytical with his delivery and stuff. We ask him to be himself and just let it go."
