|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(8/14/15) The Brewers have announced that they have placed right-hander Michael Blazek on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right hand, retroactive to Aug. 13. They have promoted fellow reliever David Goforth from Triple-A Colorado Springs to take his place on the roster.
The team gave no indication as to how Blazek sustained the injury.
Blazek descended into his first slump of the season before going down. He allowed seven runs over his last 10 innings to raise his ERA from 1.58 to 2.43.
Goforth has pitched in six games with Milwaukee this season and recorded a 4.15 ERA.
Brewers RP Michael Blazek could get spot start Wednesday
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(5/25/15) Brewers reliever Michael Blazek could start Wednesday against the Giants if Wily Peralta is unavailable due to a rib injury sustained Friday.
The right-handed Blazek worked as a starter in spring training before being placed in the bullpen. He is coming off a three-inning scoreless performance against Atlanta on Friday.
"He threw 45 pitches in his last outing," pointed out Craig Counsell. "We'll consider everything as to what would be the best way to get through a game."
The team remains hopeful that Peralta can pitch.
Brewers choose to have Michael Blazek open season in bullpen
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(4/1/15) Brewers pitcher Michael Blazek has won a spot in the bullpen to open the season, per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Blazek was being stretched out this spring in prep for a starting assignment at Triple-A Colorado Springs, but he pitched so well the team opted to keep him on the roster.
“I don’t think it has completely hit me yet,” Blazek said Wednesday. “It probably won’t until I get (to Milwaukee). We’re still in spring training so I’ve still got that mind set.”
Blazek has held opponents to a .226 average and has struck out 18 batters in 17 1/3 innings this spring.
“They just said as of right now, you’re coming up there with us,” he said. “That’s all I really needed to hear. I know I’m going to be somewhere in the 'pen. I’m going to keep the same mind set and take it one day at a time.”
