Brewers choose to have Michael Blazek open season in bullpen
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(4/1/15) Brewers pitcher Michael Blazek has won a spot in the bullpen to open the season, per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Blazek was being stretched out this spring in prep for a starting assignment at Triple-A Colorado Springs, but he pitched so well the team opted to keep him on the roster.
“I don’t think it has completely hit me yet,” Blazek said Wednesday. “It probably won’t until I get (to Milwaukee). We’re still in spring training so I’ve still got that mind set.”
Blazek has held opponents to a .226 average and has struck out 18 batters in 17 1/3 innings this spring.
“They just said as of right now, you’re coming up there with us,” he said. “That’s all I really needed to hear. I know I’m going to be somewhere in the 'pen. I’m going to keep the same mind set and take it one day at a time.”

With the departure, the Brewers will consider Rob Wooten, Tyler Thornburg and Michael Blazek for their remaining two bullpen roles.

|(3/29/15) Brewers pitcher Michael Blazek allowed three runs on four hits, including a home run, in 3 2/3 innings of work Sunday against the Athletics. Blazek, who is competing for a spot in the bullpen, knows it just wasn't there, reports MLB.com.
"I just didn't really feel like I had my best stuff today," said Blazek, who entered the game with a 3.29 ERA. "I didn't really have the breaking ball like I had the last few outings. I was kind of battling trying to get command of that. It was kind of an off-mechanics day, really is what it felt like. I was kind of fighting it."
Brewers pitcher Michael Blazek tosses four scoreless innings
|by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com|
|(3/25/15) Brewers pitcher Michael Blazek tossed four scoreless innings Tuesday, allowing just one hit with four strikeouts. Manager Ron Roenicke loved how the young pitcher worked in the game, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
"Outstanding," Roenicke said. "Good fastball location, great breaking ball. He's really throwing the ball well. The first at-bat (Paul) Goldschmidt had off him – when you make that guy look bad, you've got really good stuff. He came back and walked him the next time. But that's really good."
