| Indians designate Robert Whitenack for assignment |

(4/9/13) The Indians have designated right-hander Robert Whitenack for assignment. Whitenack was claimed by the Indians Wednesday but was bumped to make room for catcher Omir Santos on the 40-man roster.
Whitenack has not appeared in a minor-league game this season and went 1-6 with a 5.96 ERA in 15 starts at High-A Daytona last year.

(4/3/13) The Indians have claimed right-handed pitcher Robert Whitenack off waivers from the Cubs, MLB.com reports.
Whitenack, 24, spent 2012 at High-A Daytona, where he recorded a brutal 5.96 ERA and 1.15 K/BB in 51 1/3 innings (15 starts). Baseball America listed him as the Cubs' 23rd-best prospect heading into the season.

(4/1/13) The Cubs have designated pitcher Robert Whitenack for assignment. The team's 40-man roster is now set.
Whitenack was optioned to Double-A during the spring. The-24-year old had a 5.96 ERA in 51 1/3 innings in the minors last season.

(3/11/13) The Chicago Cubs continued shaping their roster for the upcoming season and announced the following moves Monday: pitchers Trey McNutt, Brooks Raley and Alberto Cabrera and second baseman Logan Watkins were optioned to Triple-A Iowa; pitcher Robert Whitenack was optioned to Double-A Tennessee and pitcher Nick Struck was assigned to the team's minor-league camp.
