Red Sox starter Steven Wright drops first start of season on Sunday
|by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer|
|(5/17/15) In his first start of the season, Red Sox starter Steven Wright (1-1) yielded three runs (two earned) in five innings and was stuck with the loss Sunday against the Mariners.|
Wright served up a homer to hot-hitting Brad Miller, a solo shot in the fifth.
Wright was starting in place of injured Justin Masterson (shoulder), who's currently on the disabled list.
"I'll be ready in a couple days," Wright said to MLB.com. "I threw about 85 pitches and I'm just ready for whatever [manager John Farrell] wants me to do, whether it's another start, going to the 'pen. For me it doesn't matter. I just have to go throw good knuckleballs over the plate and just hope for the best."
Wright's next scheduled start has not been announced as of Sunday night.

|(5/14/15) Red Sox right-handed pitcher Steven Wright will start for the club this Sunday's game against the Mariners, according to the Boston Herald.
Wright is getting the nod with Justin Masterson going on the 15-day disabled list with general fatigue.
Wright has 4.22 ERA in 10.2 innings pitched this year.
Red Sox leaning toward putting Justin Masterson on DL

|(5/13/15) Red Sox manager John Farrell said the team likely will place struggling starter Justin Masterson on the disabled list due to general fatigue, ruling out the pitcher's start Sunday, per NESN.
Masterson was hit hard Tuesday, giving up six earned runs in 2 1/3 innings against the Athletics, after which Farrell said that "clearly he's not right." Masterson has allowed 10 earned runs in his last two starts. He said he was "not real happy" about the decision to go on the DL, but that he realized his last two outings were not up to par.
While Farrell didn't indicate who would start Sunday, signs point to Steven Wright getting the nod.

|(5/10/15) The Red Sox called up RHP Steven Wright from Triple-A Pawtucket, the team announced on Sunday. Wright will be active for Sunday's game. Wright has appeared in one game for the Red Sox this season, earning a win in relief.
Wright replaces LHP Robbie Ross, who was optioned to Pawtucket. Ross had a 6.17 ERA in 13 relief appearances this year.
Red Sox call up OF Jackie Bradley, option pitcher Steven Wright
|by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com|
|(4/28/15) The Red Sox have called up outfielder Jackie Bradley from the minors and optioned pitcher Steven Wright back to Triple-A, according to the Boston Globe.
“We needed to add another position player,” manager John Farrell said, per WEEI.com. “Mike Napoli is still day to day and with last night’s outing of Joe Kelly and where we came through last night, felt like our bullpen was caught up enough to go back to 12 pitchers. Jackie will be in a reserve role coming off the bench.”
Bradley started the season with Triple-A Pawtucket and is hitting .315 with seven doubles and six RBI in 73 at-bats. Wright was called up Tuesday by Boston as an emergency option if the bullpen needed extra help. He threw five innings this season with a 3.60 ERA and three walks.
