| Steven Wright optioned to Pawtucket |
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com (4/23/13) The Red Sox optioned Steven Wright back to Triple-A Pawtucket Tuesday following a loss to the Oakland Athletics, MLB.com reports. Boston recalled Daniel Bard as the corresponding roster move.
Wright pitched the final 3 2/3 innings for the Red Sox after Alfredo Aceves was destroyed. He allowed five earned runs on six hits and four walks in the 13-0, weather-shortened defeat. Wright struck out four batters.

| Steven Wright shipping off to Boston |
by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com (4/16/13) With Joel Hanrahan headed to the disabled list with a hamstring injury, the Red Sox will promote pitcher Steven Wright from Triple-A Pawtucket to take his place on the active roster, according to multiple reports. The right-hander, a starter in the minors, is expected to be used as a long reliever out of the bullpen for Boston.

| Red Sox might call on Steven Wright |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (4/15/13) Red Sox manager John Farrell said Monday the team scratched Steven Wright from his start Sunday for Triple-A Pawtucket in case closer Joel Hanrahan has to be placed on the disabled list. Farrell indicated the team will reevaluate Hanrahan's hamstring injury before Tuesday's series opener at Cleveland.
"I don't think we'd be completely opposed to bringing (Wright) here," Farrell said, per the Boston Herald. "What the role, not just as a reliever, the ability to go multiple innings, if that comes into play, that would be more to his capabilities. Then with Joel's situation, with today is day two of what we felt, that two-day recovery period with the hamstring was needed, we're not at the point of making a roster change or DL'ing him."
Wright is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA and .167 opponents' batting average through two starts at Triple-A. He also has 11 strikeouts and seven walks in 10 innings.

| Red Sox thinning out roster |
by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com (3/12/13) The Boston Red Sox continued shaping their roster and announced the following moves Tuesday: pitcher Steven Wright and outfielder Alex Hassan were optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket while first baseman Mark Hamilton and outfielders Jeremy Hazelbaker and Juan Carlos Linares were reassigned to the team's minor-league camp.

| Wright draws support group |
by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com (2/25/13) Red Sox pitching prospect Steven Wright yielded just two hits in two scoreless innings during his first Grapefruit League appearance in Boston's 4-2 win over Toronto on Monday. Wright, who was opposed by fellow knuckleballer and NL Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey, baffled the Blue Jays for three strikeouts and did not issue a walk. Former Red Sox knuckleballer Tim Wakefield, who is working with Wright, was at the game. "Just a little nervous because you want to do your best in general, but to have guys with the keen eye for the knuckleball (watching)," Wright said. "But once I got out there I felt pretty good."
