|(5/4/15) Nationals reliever Felipe Rivero endured a miserable past couple of weeks.
According to The Washington Post's James Wagner, Rivero's gastrointestinal bleed was much worse than what was announced. Rivero said he threw up blood on April 21 after throwing just two pitches during a team event.
After alerting the team, it was discovered that Rivero had an ulcer that burst. He went to the hospital and had a procedure done to patch up his stomach lining. Rivero told The Post he's no longer feeling any pain.
“Sometimes I don’t feel well but I’m getting there,” Rivero said. “Little by little. [Sunday,] when I did flat ground, I was too tired. I did flat ground [Monday] and it was a little bit better. I wasn’t as tired.”
Rivero has appeared in only one game this season for the Nationals.
