Branyan signs with the Yankees: The Yankees signed 1B Russell Branyan to a minor-league deal on Wednesday. Branyan split his time between the Diamondbacks and Angels organizations last season, hitting .197 with five home runs. (Updated 02/08/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Branyan has always been a good source of power, but his free-swinging ways have held back his batting average over the years. At age 36, the problem only seems to be getting worse. Even if he wins a roster spot in spring training, he would be at best a low-end option in AL-only leagues. (Updated 02/08/2012).
