Adam Morgan won't need surgery
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(9/16/13) Phillies pitching prospect Adam Morgan, 23, will not need surgery on his shoulder after an MRI taken last week did not reveal any changes in his injury, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

"That's good news," assistant general manager Benny Looper said.

Morgan is expected to rest in order to recuperate from the lingering shoulder injury. He is expected to begin a throwing program sometime in December.

Adam Morgan's shoulder issue a mystery
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(5/29/13) The Phillies still aren't quite sure what is wrong with pitching prospect Adam Morgan's ailing left shoulder, and are having him undergo some diagnostic testing to find the source of his issues. Morgan has not pitched in two weeks, since he allowed 10 hits in 3 1/3 innings at Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

According to MLB.com, Morgan is considered one of the organization's top prospects. He had a 4.97 ERA and career-low 6.3 K/9 prior to being shut down.

Adam Morgan scratched at Triple-A
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(5/20/13) Phillies pitching prospect Adam Morgan is suffering from a shoulder issue and was scratched from his start Tuesday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley, MLB.com reports.

The Phillies have not made it clear how serious the injury is considered.
Adam Morgan having trouble pitching out of 'tough spots'
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(5/19/13) Phillies starting pitcher prospect Adam Morgan was rocked for 10 runs (three earned) in 3 1/3 innings in his last start for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Morgan is having a rough go in the minors, having allowed four or more runs in five straight starts.

His recent struggles are preventing his call-up to the majors.

"The first two innings [Wednesday] he threw very well and the velocity was up on his fastball," Phillies' assistant general manager of player personnel Benny Looper told The Philadelphia Inquirer. "There was a potential double play and they didn't get anybody out and there was a dropped popup and he couldn't fight his way out of the inning."

Despite his recent struggles, the Phillies remain high on Morgan. He entered the season as the Phillies' seventh-best prospect, according to MLB.com.

"He is healthy and fine," Looper said. "He is learning lessons the hard way and we expect him to come back to where he was. He hasn't been pitching professionally that long and one of the things all young pitchers need to do is pitch out of tough spots and try to hold the damage to a minimum."
