|(7/26/13) The Chicago Cubs have agreed to send outfielder Alfonso Soriano to the New York Yankees, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman. The deal now needs commissioner approval.
The Yankees are expected to pay an estimated $7 million to $8 million of the $25 million remaining on Soriano's contract, according to Heyman. In return, Chicago will likely receive anywhere from one to three prospects. Heyman said pitchers Corey Black and Tommy Kahnle are strong possibilities.
Soriano played for the Yankees from 1999 to 2003, hitting 98 home runs and accumulating a .284 average. This season, he has 17 home runs, 51 RBI and a slash line of .254/.287/.467.
