Rockies ask Corey Dickerson to be more patient
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
|(2/26/15) The Rockies want Corey Dickerson to be a little more patient at the plate, according to MLB.com.
Dickerson had a breakout season in 2014, hitting .312/.364/.567 over 436 at-bats. He walked in 7.7 percent of his plate appearances, which was actually just above the league average. Still, the team wants Dickerson to be slightly less of a free-swinging this year.
"I talked to Corey about adding this much discipline to his game," manager Walt Weiss said. "We don't want that much, because then he wouldn't be Corey Dickerson." Weiss explained that it's difficult to deliver this type of message, as Dickerson's aggressiveness makes him effective.
Dickerson said he would work harder to study pitchers and work on his approach during games.
The 25-year-old is expected to open the year as the team's starter in left.
Report: Rockies getting interest in Corey Dickerson
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
|(12/10/14) The Rockies have received plenty of trade interest in outfielder Corey Dickerson, according to FoxSports.com.
Colorado doesn't appear too excited to part with Dickerson, and would have to be "overwhelmed" by a deal. The 25-year-old hit .312/.364/.567 over 436 at-bats last season.

|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(9/26/14) Rockies outfielder Corey Dickerson will miss the final weekend of the season to attend the birth of his child, according to the Denver Post on Friday. Dickerson ends his season with a .312/.364/.567 slash line with a 24 homers and 76 RBI over 436 at-bats.
Corey Dickerson homers in four hit outburst Saturday
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(8/24/14) Rockies outfielder Corey Dickerson went 4 for 6 with a home run and two RBI in his team's 5-4, 13-inning win over the Marlins Saturday.
Dickerson delivered two critical hits at opportune times in the win, starting with a 429-foot solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to even the game at 4-4. He then followed up a leadoff double by Nolan Arenado in the 13th inning with a walkoff single to send the Rockies home with a win. Dickerson has hit .322/.375/.587 with 19 home runs, 61 RBI and eight stolen bases in 332 at-bats.
Corey Dickerson performs well in doubleheader sweep of Reds
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(8/18/14) Rockies outfielder Corey Dickerson was a standout performer Sunday, as Colorado swept a doubleheader from the Reds.
Dickerson went 2 for 4 with one double, one home run, one walk, two RBI and two runs in the opener of the doubleheader. In the second game, he went 2 for 5 with one run, one double and three RBI.
Dickerson has hit safely in 12 straight games. He is batting .417 with a .813 slugging percentage and 1.233 OPS in that span. He also has one triple, four home runs, five doubles, 11 runs and 17 RBI in his last 12 games.
|2014 Summary: Corey Dickerson lost out to Charlie Blackmon in the spring training competition for the Rockies' starting job in center field, and it took him awhile to get a second chance. Though Dickerson was used sparingly initially, he hit when he did play, and when Carlos Gonzalez was sidelined in June with a finger injury, he was given the chance to play regularly. A staple in the lineup from that point on out, Dickerson hit .312 with 24 home runs and 76 RBI in 436 at-bats.|
Playing time status: Dickerson won't have to fight for playing time this season, as he should slot into an outfield corner on most days while occasionally spelling Blackmon in center field.
2015 Outlook: Though Dickerson hit for considerably more power at Coors Field than away from it, he has the raw strength to flirt with 30 home runs over a full season. He also is good enough at hitting to the opposite field to be shift-proof and maintain a high batting average. While Dickerson could stand to hit better against lefties and on the road, he has arrived as a must-start option who should be drafted in the early rounds.
