Dodgers' Corey Seager continues to bide his time in Triple-A

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(7/16/15) Dodgers shortstop prospect Corey Seager continues to make his case for a promotion to the big leagues in 2015. While veteran Jimmy Rollins continues to struggle this season, Seager keeps on rolling in the minor leagues.

Over his last 12 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City, the 2012 first-round pick is batting .271 with a pair of home runs and eight RBI. The club has not yet announced any plans for a call-up for their talented prospect.

Dodgers not ready to push aside Rollins for prospect Corey Seager

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(6/18/15) Even though Dodgers starting shortstop Jimmy Rollins is struggling offensively, manager Don Mattingly continues to back Rollins because of his defense and veteran leadership.

With teams calling up top prospects left and right, there is always the temptation for the Dodgers to dip into their farm system for shortstop prospect Corey Seager. However, as long as Rollins is healthy and the Dodgers are winning, it appears Seager will stay in the minors.

"Look at all the guys they build up," Mattingly said, per the Los Angeles Times, "and 95 percent of them a month or a month and a half later are below-average guys. They get this great big build-up, and then we don't talk about them any more."

However, Mattingly did say that if Rollins did get hurt, then bringing Seager to the majors would be an option.

"To me, he's next in line," Mattingly said. "I don't think they'd go out and try to find a shortstop."

Dodgers prospect Corey Seager goes 6 for 6 in Triple-A Thursday

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(5/28/15) After getting off to a rather slow start, Dodgers prospect Corey Seager has been absolutely on fire over the last couple of weeks at Triple-A. Seager, who was promoted to Oklahoma on May 1, was hitting .339 (20 for 59) with two doubles, two home runs and five RBI over his last 14 games, entering play on Thursday. He had just seven hits in 37 at-bats in his first 10 games at Triple-A.

And he continued his hot streak on Thursday against the Salt Lake City Bees. The 21-year-old prospect went 6 for 6 with a home run, two doubles, and six RBI as the Triple-A Dodgers were victorious. In the four game series against the Bees, Seager was 13 for 19 with three homers and 10 RBI.

Seager is the fifth-best prospect in the game according to Baseball America, and was the team's first-round draft pick (18th overall) in 2012.

Dodgers prospect Corey Seager launches firsts two PCL homers

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(5/26/15) Dodgers prospect Corey Seage r had been mired in a slump since being promoted to Triple-A Oklahoma on May 1. The 2012 first-round pick came into Monday night's game in 3-for-25 skid with no extra base hits during that stretch. But Seager did his best to put that drought far behind him on Monday against Salt Lake.

Seager launched his first two Pacific Coast League home run on Monday, as Oklahoma won 6-1. Now, the 21-year-old is hitting .250/.290/.364 with 14 strikeouts in 88 at-bats with Triple-A. But Seager knows what he has to do and is trying to stay positive the best he can.

"There's going to be low points in every year," he said, per MiLB.com. "You just try to minimize them as much as possible. That was the low point for me, and I made the adjustment. Hopefully we can move on and not have too many more of them.

"I'm getting comfortable now. "It's always a whirlwind in the beginning trying to figure out everything about where you're going to be, get your clothes, all that other stuff. It's finally settling down. You can finally relax and go out and play again."

Dodgers' Corey Seager yet to click at Triple-A

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(5/11/15) Dodgers third-base prospect Corey Seager has hit just .233/.324/.367 with four RBI in 30 at-bats over his first eight games with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

One of the top-rated prospects in all of baseball, Seager dominated Double-A pitchers in his first 20 games of the year, hitting .375/.407/.675 with five home runs and 15 RBI in 80 at-bats with Tulsa. He has yet to come anywhere near that production in a small sample size after his promotion.

Seager is unlikely to play a large role on the major-league level this season if the Dodgers infield can stay relatively healthy.
