Roberto Osuna earns second save for Blue Jays
|by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer|
|(6/28/15) Roberto Osuna went 1 1/3 innings to nab his second save of the season, keeping the Rangers at bay in a 3-2 victory by the Blue Jays on Sunday.
Osuna faced five batters in his stint, giving up one hit while striking out two hitters. Both of Osuna's saves have come in non-traditional, one-inning situations, as he earned a two-inning save on June 22.
Osuna is now 1-2 with two saves and seven holds on the season.
Blue Jays backing off Cecil as closer, going to committee approach

|(6/23/15) Blue Jays manager John Gibbons made the announcement Tuesday he was removing Brett Cecil from the role as full-time closer and going to a committee approach. Gibbons said Cecil is getting backed off as closer to "get him right."
"He's just not sharp right now," Gibbons said.
Gibbons added Steve Delabar would be used as the closer Tuesday against the Rays, but also said Roberto Osuna will be in the mix for saves moving forward. Osuna was unavailable Tuesday after recording a two-inning save Monday.
Gibbons spoke favorable of Osuna on Tuesday, adding he has the stuff, makeup and toughness to close games. However, he added Osuna might be needed before the ninth inning, which is why he is not being named the new closer.

Blue Jays' Roberto Osuna impressing in rookie season
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(5/14/15) Blue Jays pitcher Roberto Osuna has been excellent in his first taste of major-league action, posting a 0.98 ERA and 18:5 K:BB ratio in 18 1/3 innings across 14 appearances.
"He’s been impressive since day one, very composed," pitching coach Pete Walker said, per the Toronto Sun. "His mound presence looks like he’s been here for a while doing this, very comfortable in a good way. He attacks the strike zone and is not afraid of any situation. So far he hasn’t backed down from any situation that we’ve put him into. He’s been a real pleasant surprise and out expectations are for him to continue to be really productive up here."
The organization believes the young pitcher could serve as a starter or closer long-term.
"I think he could turn into being a starter right now and be fine," manager John Gibbons said. "Generally starters have three (quality) pitches and he has them so he’s ahead of the game."
Blue Jays' Gibbons credits addition of changeup to Osuna's success
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(5/1/15) Blue Jays rookie reliever Roberto Osuna bounced back from his first blown save of the season Monday at Boston to throw 1 2/3 scoreless innings in a 5-1 win Thursday against the Indians. He allowed one hit and had two strikeouts.
The right-hander has been a strong addition to the Toronto bullpen. He lowered his ERA to 1.38 and has 15 strikeouts in 13 innings. Manager John Gibbons credits Osuna's success to his increase in changeup usage, which he said was inspired by catcher Russell Martin.
"He's been great all year," Gibbons said of Osuna, per MLB.com. "For a young kid, he's very poised and has a lot of confidence. You could really start to see in spring training when Russell took over with him and really made him use his changeup a lot. That's really made a big difference in his career to this point. Coming into this year, he was basically fastball/slider. Russ just really made him use it in spring training and it's a big pitch for him. So now he's got three pitches he can go to."
