Blue Jays' Roberto Osuna, Miguel Castro earn spot on roster

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(3/31/15) Blue Jays pitchers Roberto Osuna and Miguel Castro have both made the Opening Day roster, according to the National Post.

Osuna and Castro were both competing for spots on the pitching staff and the team is unsure if they will go with 7 or 8 in the bullpen, according to the report.

Osuna posted a 2-0 record with a 0.82 ERA in seven spring training appearances while Castro posted a 1.64 ERA with 10 strikeouts and no walks this spring.

"We're roomies, we work together, I'm so glad to have him on the team ... it will be awesome," Osuna said Wednesday to Sports Net.

Blue Jays pitcher Roberto Osuna tagged with blown save Saturday

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(3/28/15) Blue Jays pitcher Roberto Osuna last just 1/3 of an inning Saturday in relief against the Braves. Osuna was tagged for one run on three hits with one walk and earned a blown save. Osuna didn't sound to worried about his struggle Saturday, reports MLB.com.

"I'll learn from today and I'm going to try to make those adjustments for the season," Osuna said. "I think it was a good day.

"That's going to happen in the season so I've got to get ready. I think everything was there. I just missed a couple fastballs a little bit up and they hit it."

Jays option Delabar, increase chances of Osuna, Castro making 'pen

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3/26/15) The Blue Jays announced Tuesday they optioned reliever Steve Delabar to minor-league camp. Delabar -- who had a 3.86 ERA, one save, nine strikeouts and one walk in seven spring innings -- said he was shocked by the move, per the National Post.

"They told me that some other guys have stepped up. I’m assuming it’s some of the younger guys," he said.

Manager John Gibbons didn't hold back in his assessment of Delabar's spring performance.

"I’m glad he’s pissed off," Gibbons said. "He should be pissed off. Why wouldn’t he be? We’re all pissed off. We wanted him on the team.

"We need a multiple-inning guy. He’s basically right now a one-inning pitcher. That’s what it came down to."

Delabar's demotion could pave the way for Roberto Osuna and Miguel Castro to make the Opening Day roster. Both players have been impressive in camp. Castro has tossed nine scoreless innings, while striking out eight and not issuing a walk. Osuna also hasn't allowed a run in 9 2/3 innings, while striking out eight and walking two.

Blue Jays' Roberto Osuna shines in spot start Sunday

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3/22/15) Blue Jays pitcher Roberto Osuna was a late insertion into the starting lineup Sunday after Marco Estrada was scratched but shined in his opportunity, giving up just two hits and one walk in 3 2/3 innings while striking out two.

"I'm very happy, man, I can't describe it," Osuna said after the outing, per MLB.com. "It's a great experience. It's what everybody dreams. It feels pretty good. ... I've learned more confidence from today, facing those guys, and I feel pretty good."

Osuna missed much of last season following Tommy John surgery but was able to return to action in July. He has delivered 9 2/3 scoreless innings this spring while striking out eight and walking two. Osuna has yet to be ruled out for the team's final 25-man roster.

Roberto Osuna makes his return from Tommy John surgery

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
