Diamondbacks struggling to fill in void at third base
|by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com|
|(4/26/15) Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale knew his team wasn't going to go the entire season without an injury. But the skipper was hoping to avoid the issue he currently has at third base, according to AZCentral.com.
With Jake Lamb on the disabled list with a foot injury, Aaron Hill and Yasmany Tomas have struggled to put it together, combining for a .559 OPS in the last five games.
"Yeah, that's huge," Hale said. "You're going to have injuries all year. There's going to be a multitude of them for every team. If you can't make the adjustment — if guys can't come in and fill the void — then you're going to be in trouble as a club."
Tomas is hitting .286 in 14 at-bats this season while Hill is scuffling along at .156 in 45 at-bats.
D-Backs' Hale: Jake Lamb could return in a few weeks
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(4/21/15) Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale told reporters that third baseman Jake Lamb returning from the disabled list in a few weeks would be the best-case scenario, according to the Arizona Republic.
Lamb was placed on the disabled list on Tuesday with a left foot stress reaction. Hale added that they caught his injury early enough that it didn't turn into a stress fracture, and that they hope it's not a serious issue moving forward, per the Republic.
"It's frustrating because I don't know what caused it," Lamb said.
With Lamb on the shelf, Aaron Hill and Yasmany Tomas could see more playing time at third base.

Lamb heads to the disabled list with a .414 average, one triple, one home run, three doubles and nine RBI in 10 games.

|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(4/19/15) Diamondbacks third baseman Jake Lamb and catcher Tuffy Gosewisch are not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Lamb batted second Saturday for the first time this season but is out of the lineup Sunday for just the second time in his last eight games. Gosewisch started eight of the last nine games behind the plate. With both players on the bench, the Diamondbacks will bat third baseman Aaron Hill fifth and catcher Jordan Pacheco sixth.
The Diamondbacks are underdogs (+125) in San Francisco Sunday.
