|Jake Lamb dealing with a quad injury |
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
(9/15/14) Diamondbacks infielder Jake Lamb was held out of the starting lineup Monday night against San Francisco, due to a quad injury, the Arizona Republic reports. He has now missed three consecutive games with the ailment. Lamb is hitting .227 with three homers and 10 RBI over 88 at-bats.

(8/30/14) The Diamondbacks received a rare boost from infielder Jake Lamb Friday, in a 5-2 win over the Rockies.
Lamb put the Diamondbacks up for good in the eighth inning with a grand slam, his second home run of the season. It was his lone hit in the game, as he went 1 for 4 with two strikeouts and four RBI.
Lamb has appeared in 16 games for the Diamondbacks, hitting .218/.279/.345 in 55 at-bats.
|Jake Lamb adds some depth to a thin position |
|by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(8/7/14) With the expected promotion of Jake Lamb Thursday, Fantasy owners hurting for a third baseman now have another option to consider.
Just how good is he? Well, his minor-leagues numbers were probably warped by his surroundings -- any hitter who passes through both the California League and Pacific Coast League has the potential to fake out Fantasy owners -- but he hit .321 with a .959 OPS over parts of three seasons and was batting .500 (9 for 18) in a brief stint at Triple-A. He was also basically the same player at every step up the ladder, which adds legitimacy to those numbers.
Of course, he also struck out every third at-bat, and we know how that goes from George Springer and Jon Singleton. He also bats left-handed, which old-school manager Kirk Gibson might use as an excuse to sit him a couple times a week.
Lamb is far from must-add, but he has enough of a pedigree at a weak position to enter the mixed-league discussion. Right now, I'd rate him somewhere between Lonnie Chisenhall and Mike Moustakas among third basemen.

(8/7/14) The Diamondbacks will promote third baseman Jake Lamb from Triple-A Reno on Thursday, sources have told azcentral.com.
The 23-year-old Lamb has been tearing it up with a stat line of .318/.399/.551 and 79 RBI at Double-A before his promotion to Reno for the last five games. But he fanned 99 times in 374 at-bats.
