"It was a great night, a really fun night," Winker said, per MLB.com. "I just took the same approach I've been taking all year, I try to hit the ball hard. They just happened to fall [Wednesday]."

(2/6/14) Reds minor league outfielder Jesse Winker provided some optimism for the organization last season by batting .281 with 16 home runs and 76 RBI for Class A Dayton despite losing time to a high ankle sprain.
"He's really taken to studying and trying to perfect his craft," Reds player development director Jeff Graupe told MLB.com. "For being a 19-year-old in the Midwest League last year, he took consistently quality at-bats. You don't see a strikeout-to-walk ratio that successful while still doing damage and having a good slugging percentage."
Winker fanned 75 times with 63 walks in 2013.
