Padres' prospect earns promotion
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(5/6/13) Padres starting pitcher prospect Matt Wisler was promoted from Class A Lake Elsinore to Double-A San Antonio Monday, according to MLB.com. Wisler is 2-1 with a 2.03 ERA and .196 opponents' batting average in six starts.

He struck out 28, walked six and allowed one home run in 31 innings in the hitter-friendly California League. Wisler entered the season as the Padres' eighth-best prospect, according to MLB.com.

"He has a plus-fastball, good natural movement and can run through a lineup," Lake Elsinore manager Shawn Wooten said last week. "The ball jumps out of his hand. He has a nice, slow rhythm. He knows how to use his slider, which right now is probably ahead of his curveball. He's a soft-mannered kid, but his demeanor is bulldoggish."
