Braves' Matt Wisler torched for seven runs in blowout Thursday
|by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer|
|(10:18 pm ET) Braves starter Matt Wisler had a rather forgettable outing against the Nationals on Thursday. The rookie right-hander lasted just 1 2/3 innings, allowing seven runs on five hits and three walks. Wisler needed 48 pitches (27 strikes) to record his five outs, en route to the 15-1 blowout loss.
Wisler (5-6, 5.97 ERA) has really struggled since the calendar turned to August. Over his last seven starts, he has allowed 32 earned runs over 31 1/3 innings of work, leading to a gaudy 9.20 ERA. He also owns a 18:20 K:BB ratio over that stretch.
Braves SP Matt Wisler denied run support in Saturday loss
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(8/30/15) Braves starter Matt Wisler needed to be near-perfect Saturday against the Yankees. He was merely good - and that wasn't good enough.
Wisler yielded two runs on four hits in six innings with four walks and four strikeouts. That was two runs too many as his team got blanked during his stint in the game.
The lone runs against him scored on a wild pitch in the first and RBI double by Didi Gregorius in the seventh.
Wisler bounced back quite well from a horrible performance last Sunday, when he allowed seven runs in 2 2/3 innings against the Cubs.

|(8/19/15) Braves pitcher Matt Wisler had a decent outing during Tuesday's start against the Padres, but he received no run support in the 9-0 loss.
Wisler allowed two runs on six hits over five innings of work. He also struck out two and walked two. He received his third loss of the season, but lowered his ERA to 4.65.
Wisler has not won or received a quality start in his last four trips to the mound.
Strong start from Braves SP Matt Wisler wasted by bullpen
|by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer|
|(8/12/15) Braves starter Matt Wisler pitched well enough to earn a win, but had to settle for a no-decision after his bullpen failed him in a 9-6 loss Wednesday.
Wisler lasted just five innings, allowing seven hits and a pair of earned runs. But he was done in by a rising pitch count, reaching 96 before being pulled. Wisler struck out five hitters, while walking a pair.
Wisler (5-2) now has back-to-back decisions following his second MLB loss.
