|Henry Urrutia returning to action at Triple-A |
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
(7/19/14) Orioles outfielder Henry Urrutia will join Triple-A Norfolk next week, according to MASNSports.com.
Urrutia has been recovering from sports hernia surgery, but played in eight rehab games for the team's Gulf Coast League affiliate so far. He is hitting .200 in 30 at-bats in that span, and will likely return to action next week, with a chance to be called up later in the season if a need arises in the majors.
"There's ways to catch up and be an option for us," Showalter said.

(3/26/14) The Orioles optioned outfielder Henry Urrutia to Triple-A Norfolk Wednesday.
Urrutia put together a decent spring line, hitting .262/.279/.452 with one home run in 42 at-bats. His fate was likely sealed when the Orioles inked Nelson Cruz to a contract earlier this offseason.
|Henry Urrutia scores run in return to action Friday |
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
(3/7/14) Orioles outfielder Henry Urrutia went 0 for 2 and scored a run in his team's 15-4 win over the Phillies Friday.
Urrutia hadn't played since the previous Friday due to shoulder inflammation, but he came on as a pinch-hitter for the red-hot Nick Markakis in the fifth and stayed through the remainder of the blowout win. Urrutia is 0 for 5 in two appearances so far this spring.
|Henry Urrutia had a solid debut for the Orioles in 2013, hitting .276 in 24 games. The 27-year-old Cuban outfielder tore up the minor leagues, hitting .347 with 21 doubles over 314 at-bats (across Double-and-Triple-A) in his first professional season. From the half-season's worth of at-bats, it appears Urrutia can hit for average, but may struggle with power. He can probably steal a few bases, and should be able to flirt with 30 doubles if he's given a full season of at-bats. Heading into 2014, it appears Urrutia could start at DH or in left field, despite Baltimore's offseason deal for David Lough and the presence of Steve Pearce. If he starts, Urrutia becomes a bit of a sleeper in Roto formats, and could return a nice investment on a late-round pickup in Roto formats.
