White Sox trim down roster on Wednesday

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(3/18/15) The White Sox made another round of roster cuts on Wednesday, optioning Matt Davidson, Adrian Nieto, Tyler Saladino, Kevan Smith and Trayce Thompson to Triple-A Charlotte. Raul Fernandez and Michael Ynoa were optioned to Double-A Birmingham, per the team's official website.

Chicago also reassigned Dan Black, Andy LaRoche, J.D. Martin, Jared Mitchell, Tim Anderson and Tyler Danish to minor-league camp.

White Sox SS Tim Anderson overcoming early jitters

by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(3/9/15) White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson is regarded as one of the organization's top prospects. However, his beginning to spring training wouldn't indicate that thus far.

Last week, Anderson recorded three errors in two games, which were glaring based on his status with the club. Anderson said he's not going to let those early mistakes bother him as he continues to try and find a defensive groove this spring.

“I want to be a shortstop for a long time and I’m going to be a shortstop so I’m going to work real hard to stay there,” Anderson said, per ESPN.com.

With three teams in the White Sox farm system a year ago, Anderson hit .303, had nine home runs and contributed 40 RBI. However, he did have 34 errors in 82 total games, with 31 of those coming with Single-A Winston-Salem.

Anderson is keeping an optimistic approach, though, which is to work on his defense as he continues his quest of making the White Sox roster.

“I’m not putting too much pressure on myself,” Anderson said. “When it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen. No rush.”

White Sox SS Tim Anderson looking to become long-term solution

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(3/4/15) White Sox prospect Tim Anderson is on a mission in spring training this year. He wants to prove that he belongs in the majors with the big boys.

"Just show them I can stay at short and my defense has come a long way and it's going to get better," Anderson said. "I want to be a shortstop for a long time. I'm going to be a shortstop. I'm going to work hard to stay there."

Anderson is currently considered Chicago's No. 2 prospect and could be just the prospect the White Sox are looking for. In his 2015 debut, Anderson smacked a two-run single.

"I'm just staying calm and trying not to do too much and just doing what I've been doing to be here," Anderson said. "It has been exciting to get in here and work with all the big leaguers and get my reps in and see how they go in the daily routine."
