Hunter Harvey has no ligament damage in elbow

(7/30/14) An MRI revealed Orioles starting pitcher prospect Hunter Harvey has a strained flexor mass in his pitching arm, according to MLB.com. He has no ligament damage in his elbow, but he will miss the rest of the season for Class A Delmarva.

The 2013 first-round pick (22nd) is 7-5 with a 3.18 ERA and .209 opponents' batting average in 17 starts. He has 106 strikeouts in 87 2/3 innings.

(6/5/14) Orioles pitching prospect Hunter Harvey posted a rare poor start Wednesday.

Harvey allowed five earned runs over 4 2/3 innings. He gave up eight hits, and walked two. Harvey struck out three during the contest. Depsite the poor start, his numbers are solid overall. Harvey has a 2.31 ERA in 58 1/3 innings.

(2/26/14) If you plan on attending an Orioles' spring training game in hopes of catching a glimpse of 2013 first-round pick Hunter Harvey, well you are going to be disappointed. Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Wednesday the highly touted pitching prospect will not appear in a major-league game this spring, per CSN Baltimore.

Hunter Harvey impressive in Class A debut

(8/21/13) Orioles prospect and top draft pick Hunter Harvey had an impressive debut at Class A Aberdeen Tuesday, MLB.com reports.

Harvey consistently hit 93-94 mph on the radar gun as he went 4 1/3 innings and allowed only one unearned run.

"When you're taking a pitcher in the first round, you're trying to identify that guy as a No. 1 or No. 2 starter. A top-of-the-rotation guy. And that's what he looked like," IronBirds manager Matt Merullo said of Harvey, who was selected with the 22nd overall pick.

Harvey allowed four base hits, of which two were infield singles. He had five strikeouts and threw 76 pitches.

Prospect Hunter Harvey moving up to Class A

(8/19/13) Orioles first-round draft pick pitcher Hunter Harvey will join the Class A Aberdeen IronBirds going forward, The Baltimore Sun reports Monday. Harvey will start for Aberdeen Tuesday. 

The 18-year-old has made five professional starts since being drafted. He's struck out 18 batters with an ERA of 1.35 over 13 1/3 innings.
