"I'm not going to say I needed it, but I needed it," Hendricks said after the game, per MLB.com.

Collapse in sixth costs Cubs RHP Kyle Hendricks win
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(5/15/15) Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks didn't blow a 7-1 lead Thursday against visiting Pittsburgh. But he sure blew enough of it to allow his relievers to complete the job and saddle him with a no-decision.
Hendricks allowed just one run - a solo homer by Pedro Alvarez - and three hits through five while his team was building a six-run lead. But he collapsed in the sixth after two outs, giving up two singles and three-run double. He finished having allowed five runs on eight hits with one walk and seven strikeouts.
With just one quality start under his belt this season and a 5.15 ERA, Hendricks will try again Thursday in San Diego.

Kyle Hendricks gets no decision in Cubs' loss
|by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com|
|(5/5/15) Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks allowed four runs in five innings but left with a no decision in Tuesday's loss to St. Louis.
Hendricks allowed six hits, walked two and struck out one. He allowed a three-run home run to Matt Carpenter.
Hendricks' ERA moved to 5.61. He threw 73 pitches, 42 strikes. His next start will be Sunday, against Milwaukee.
|2014 summary: Control artist Kyle Hendricks was even better at avoiding walks in the majors than he had been in the minors, and that was critical to his successful rookie season. The Cubs recalled Hendricks in July, and after a sketchy debut, he reeled off a string of six straight quality starts in which he did not allow more than one run in any outing. Hendricks compiled a 7-2 record with a 2.46 ERA, even though he recorded only 47 strikeouts in 80 1/3 innings. In addition to a 1.7 BB/9 ratio, Hendricks was aided by allowing only four home runs.|
Playing time status: Hendricks is all but assured of a rotation spot. Given that he threw 183 innings between the majors and minors, Hendricks is not likely to be subjected to an innings limit.
2015 outlook: Given his ability to limit walks and extra-base hits, Hendricks could be one of those pitchers worth owning in standard mixed leagues, even though he doesn't get many strikeouts. However, there's hope for his K-rate yet, as Hendricks posted a decent 9.1 percent swinging strike rate. Though he will likely regress at least a little, Hendricks is still worth a late-round pick in standard mixed leagues.
