|(4/5/15) The Braves placed outfielder Joey Terdoslavich (wrist) on the 15-day disabled list and pitchers Daniel Winkler (elbow) and Shae Simmons (elbow) on the 60-day disabled list.

Braves RP Shae Simmons sidelined following Tommy John surgery
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(2/12/15) The Braves announced Thursday reliever Shae Simmons underwent Tommy John surgery to reconstruct the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. Simmons is expected to miss the 2015 season since pitchers usually need 12-18 months of rehab following Tommy John surgery.
This is an unfortunate setaback for Simmons, who is one of the Braves' more promising young arms in the bullpen. The 24-year-old right-hander went 1-2 with a 2.91 ERA in 26 relief outings in his MLB debut in 2014. He also struck out 23 batters in 21 2/3 innings.
Simmons had a 1.69 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over three minor-league seasons. He also struck out 13.0 batters per nine innings.
Braves' Shae Simmons ready for new season back from shoulder injury
|by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com|
|(1/23/15) Braves pitcher Shae Simmons was only able to play in 20 games in 2014 after dealing with a right shoulder strain.
"I haven't had any issues, so I'm kind of excited about that," Simmons said Friday.
Simmons has not experienced any discomfort since beginning his offseason throwing program and will begin throwing off the mound next week.
"I gave my shoulder the rest that it needed and now I'm good," Simmons said. "Now, it's just about getting loose and getting my arm strength back."
Simmons posted a 2.91 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings in 2014, including one save.
Shae Simmons unlikely to pitch again this season
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
|(9/5/14) Braves pitcher Shae Simmons has not thrown a ball since Aug. 20 due to a strained right shoulder, and at this point it does not appear as if he will be able to pitch in the majors again this season, reports MLB.com Friday.
"He hasn't even gotten back on the mound yet," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "There is no reason to push him."
The Braves have little more than three weeks remaining in the regular season, and the team is moving forward as if Simmons will not pitch again until next season, Gonzalez and general manager Frank Wren acknowledged.
Simmons had a 2.91 ERA in 21 2/3 innings for the Braves this season before suffering the injury in July.
