Giants pitcher Derek Law will face hitters in two months

(3/26/15) Giants pitcher Derek Law remains on track in his recovery from Tommy John surgery and he will face live batters in two months, reports CSNBayArea.com.

Law is recovery from Tommy John surgery and is currently just throwing bullpen sessions, which have been going well. He was recently optioned to high Class A by the Giants.

(3/17/15) The Giants optioned outfielder Daniel Carbonell to Double-A Richmond and pitchers Joan Gregorio and Derek Law to high Class A San Jose Tuesday.

Carbonell went 2 for 12 with a home run and two walks in his first big-league camp. Gregorio tossed 4 2/3 scoreless innings over five spring appearances. Law didn't see any action in Cactus League play.

Giants pitcher Derek Law throws off mound Wednesday

(3/4/15) Giants pitcher Derek Law was able to throw off a mound for the first time since last June when he underwent Tommy John surgery, reports MercuryNews.com.

Law threw 25 pitches and was suppose to take it fairly easy in his bullpen session.

"I was supposed to go 50 percent," said Law, smiling. "I might have gone 60 percent."

Law is hoping to get back on the mound for a game by June, the one-year anniversary of the injury.

"The first four or five felt a little weird, just getting used to standing on the hill," Law said. "Then it was coming out fine. It was like riding a bike."

Derek Law opts for Tommy John surgery

(6/26/14) Giants pitching prospect Derek Law underwent Tommy John surgery Tuesday, after receiving a second opinion on the elbow Monday.

Law was pitching well at Double-A Richmond prior to the injury, posting a 2.57 ERA in 28 innings of relief. He is likely out until at least next summer, with a typical timeline for recovery from this surgery lasting at least 12 months.

(6/17/14) Giants minor-league pitcher Derek Law will get a second opinion on his injured elbow from Dr. James Andrews, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Law could be in line for Tommy John surgery depending on how the meeting with Dr. Andrews transpires. He has made 27 appearances with Double-A Richmond, posting a 2.57 ERA and 29:14 K:BB ratio in 28 innings.
