(6/26/14) Giants pitching prospect Derek Law underwent Tommy John surgery Tuesday, after receiving a second opinion on the elbow Monday.
Law was pitching well at Double-A Richmond prior to the injury, posting a 2.57 ERA in 28 innings of relief. He is likely out until at least next summer, with a typical timeline for recovery from this surgery lasting at least 12 months.

(6/17/14) Giants minor-league pitcher Derek Law will get a second opinion on his injured elbow from Dr. James Andrews, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Law could be in line for Tommy John surgery depending on how the meeting with Dr. Andrews transpires. He has made 27 appearances with Double-A Richmond, posting a 2.57 ERA and 29:14 K:BB ratio in 28 innings.

(3/29/14) Giants pitcher Derek Law was assigned to Double-A Richmond despite having a strong spring, MLB.com reports. Law posted a 4.50 ERA and 6:3 K:BB ratio over six frames this spring.
"He was close to making this team. So, he's knocking on the door,"manager Bruce Bochy said. "It's nice to have these guys to give you insurance, and not just insurance, but depth in that bullpen. If we need some help, we feel that we have some very capable arms to help us."
