Preseason Outlook

After a bounce-back season with the Rays in which he hit 20 homers, Hinske struggled as a semi-regular player with the Pirates. He fared better in a similar role with the Yankees following a midseason trade, which ultimately convinced the Braves to sign him as one of their primary bench options. He might not get enough at-bats to make a big impact in Atlanta, but he has some low-end appeal as a cheap source of homers in NL-only leagues. (Updated 1/31/10)
