|(6/21/15) Astros pitcher Vincent Velasquez could not pitch the past the fourth inning during Sunday's 6-2 win over the Mariners and he received a no-decision for his effort.
Velasquez allowed one run on two hits over 3 1/3 innings of work. He struck out five, but also walked four during the outing. He now has a 4.15 ERA on the season.
"I could have gone later on in the game, but walks kills you," Velasquez said, per MLB.com. "I did get out of it and a lot of damage could have been done more, and I prevented it."
Velasquez has failed to pitch more than five innings in all three of his starts this season. His next expected start is scheduled for Friday against the Yankees.
Astros SP Vincent Velasquez struggles in no-decision on Tuesday

|(6/16/15) Astros right-hander Vincent Velasquez did not have the same results in his second career start as he did in his first start. On Tuesday against the Rockies, Velasquez lasted 4 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits. He did strike out a career-high seven batters, while walking two on the afternoon.
Velasquez picked up a no-decision as the Astros were winners on Tuesday, but he did not last long enough to qualify for the win. He got knocked around for a three-run second inning, and then gave up a two-run home run to Carlos Gonzalez in the fifth inning.
"He’ll be disappointed just in the sense that he didn’t get through five innings and we provided him some runs," manager A.J. Hinch said, per the Houston Chronicle. "He got the first two outs pretty quickly and my mind started wondering if he would get into the sixth and actually get a couple outs in the sixth before needing help.
"And then two-out single by (Troy Tulowitzki) (and) the big home run by Gonzalez, I don’t want to say ruins his day, but ends his day. The middle of this order can do that to you. He’s not the first guy that’s ever had to go through there and have some difficulty at the end of his outing."
The rookie will look to pick up his first MLB win in his next start, which is scheduled for Sunday in Seattle.
