Garcia regroups in bullpen: Yankees pitcher Freddy Garcia (0-2) hurled two scoreless innings of relief during New York's 5-1 loss at Kansas City on Saturday night. It was Garcia's second appearance out of the bullpen after he was removed from the rotation following his woeful start against Detroit on April 28. Garcia finished with a walk and a strikeout against the Royals as he pitched the final two innings. (Updated 05/06/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Garcia struggled to produce as a starter in his second season with New York and was banished to the bullpen after failing to finish two innings in his last two starts. The 35-year-old will attempt to rebuild his stature in a relief role and has been effective so far, recording four scoreless innings to lower his season ERA to 9.68. Fantasy owners still shouldn't rely on him too much and view him as a low-end option in AL-only formats. (Updated 05/06/2012).

Felipe Paulino blanked New York for the second time in a month, and Mike Moustakas and Jeff Francoeur hit two-run homers to lead the Kansas City Royals over the reeling Yankees 6-0 on Monday night.

Andy Pettitte made his much-anticipated return to the Yankees on Sunday, getting lavished with adoration while pitching into the seventh inning despite giving up a pair of two-run homers in New York's 6-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners.

Phil Hughes won consecutive starts for the first time this season, Raul Ibanez homered against his former team for the second day in a row and the Yankees beat former New York prospect Hector Noesi in a 6-2 win over the Seattle Mariners on Saturday.

The Rangers, true to form, won't say that they want to beat ex-teammate C.J. Wilson any more than they would any other pitcher. Fine. They don't need to say it. Everyone knows it, and that's why Wilson vs. Yu Darvish on Friday night highlights this edition of 3 to Watch.
Freddy Garcia enjoyed a bounce-back campaign with the Yankees a year ago, going 12-8 with a 3.58 ERA in 25 starts. He was good enough that the Yankees re-signed him with the expectation of putting him back in the starting rotation. But that was before the trade that landed them Michael Pineda and well before the signing of Andy Pettitte. With those two in the mix, perhaps neither Garcia nor Phil Hughes will be a year-long option for the starting rotation. Pettitte likely won't be able to claim the fifth spot right away, but Hughes appears to be the more likely choice than Garcia to hold the job in the meantime. If Garcia is ever in a position to start, the Yankees lineup will make him a viable option even in deeper mixed-leagues. Given the uncertain role, though, he's looking more like an AL-only choice right now. (Updated 3/27/12)
