Hernandez trying to earn contract: From The Sports Xchange notes: C Ramon Hernandez is one of four catchers currently on the roster, and although he is considered No. 1, the Reds have a decision to make. Hernandez can be a free agent after the season, but the club owns a $8.5 million option on his contract and must decide if he is worth that money or if it can negotiate a contract for a lesser figure.
