That said, he'll be used out of the bullpen for at least the next few days.

(5/20/13) Dodgers pitcher Ted Lilly has been activated from the disabled list.
The move was expected, as manager Don Mattingly said Sunday. The team sent pitcher Matt Magill down to make room for Lilly. It's unclear if Lilly will be used as a starter or in the bullpen. He has a 5.63 ERA in eight innings this year.

(5/18/13) Dodgers manager Don Mattingly told the Orange County Register Saturday that he expected pitcher Ted Lilly to be activated from the disabled list Monday. Lilly has been out since April 29 with a strained rib cage and has been saying he's ready to return since throwing five innings in his latest minor-league rehab start.
Lilly's role has yet to be determined, but it seems likely that he will pitch out of the bullpen to start.
|Ted Lilly ready to return|

(5/16/13) Dodgers pitcher Ted Lilly, who has been sidelined since April 29 with a strained rib cage, told the Los Angeles Times that he is ready to come off the disabled list.
Lilly pitched five innings in his latest minor-league rehab start for Class A Rancho Cucamonga Wednesday. He reported no signs of trouble with his rib cage after Wednesday's outing. He has accompanied the Dodgers on a six-game road trip, starting Friday at Atlanta.
Lilly is expected to pitch a bullpen session Friday before the team makes its next move. If he does not need a second rehab start, he would likely return to the rotation as early as May 25 when the Dodgers return home to play a three-game series against the Cardinals.
|Ted Lilly is a big question mark heading into 2013. Shoot, he was a big question mark for most of 2012. He went down with a seemingly innocuous shoulder injury in late May and just never made any progress, ramping up for rehab a couple times only to have to shut it down again. He finally submitted to a clean-up procedure in September and has been out of the spotlight ever since. No one can say for sure whether or not he'll be ready to pitch at the start of 2013, and no one can say for sure whether he'll have a rotation spot if he is. He should still have something left in the tank at age 37. He doesn't throw particularly hard and has excellent control. Given the uncertainty surrounding him, though, you're better off waiting to put in a waiver claim for Lilly than investing a late-round draft pick in him in mixed leagues. (Updated 12/4/12)|
