Preseason Outlook

Mota takes second strike: San Francisco relief pitcher Guillermo Mota was suspended 100 games by Major League Baseball on Monday after testing positive for Clenbuterol, a performance-enhancing substance. Mota's first suspension -- a 50-game ban -- came during the 2006 season. "The Giants are disappointed to learn of Guillermo Mota's suspension," the team said in a statement. Mota is appealing the suspension but must begin it immediately as a repeat offender. (Updated 05/07/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Mota, who signed a one-year deal during the offseason to stay with the Giants, has appeared in nine games this season and posted a 5.06 ERA. The right-hander has hardly been effective late in his career and should continue to be ignored in all Fantasy formats while suspended. (Updated 05/07/2012).
