Preseason Outlook

After starting for the Rockies when they went to the World Series in 2007, the 31-year-old Torrealba had seemingly settled into a backup role. But toward the end of the 2009 season, new manager Jim Tracy declared Torrealba the starter over struggling Chris Iannetta. And low and behold, the Rockies went back in the playoffs. Torrealba couldn't land a clear starting gig this offseason, instead joining the Padres to split time with Nick Hundley, which is probably for the best since he doesn't excel in any offensive category. Even if he stumbles into a decent batting average like he did last year, it won't be enough for him to make an impact in mixed leagues. (Updated 2/8/10)
