Fantasy Analysis
Ankiel entered Tuesday's game with just three hits in his previous 10 contests. He's not swinging a good bat for Washington, despite the homer Tuesday, and should be considered just an NL-only Fantasy option. (Updated 05/22/2012).

05/15/2012 16:15 Padres slam Strasburg, sink Nats
Stephen Strasburg left after only four innings Tuesday, matching the second-shortest appearance of his 25-start career, and San Diego's Will Venable had four hits, while John Baker delivered three hits and three RBI, leading the Padres to a 6-1 victory over the Washington Nationals.
05/13/2012 00:13 Nationals' Wilson Ramos leaves game with knee injury
Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos had an MRI on his right knee after leaving Saturday's game against the Reds. Washington manager Davey Johnson said he has a "bad feeling" about the injury.
Rick Ankiel certainly took his time deciding on a playing location for the 2012 season. After several weeks of discussions, Ankiel opted to remain with the Nationals. The 32-year-old finished with nine homers and 37 RBI while receiving 380 at-bats, his highest total since the 2008 campaign with St. Louis (413). Ankiel could see some starts with Washington, which currently has Mike Cameron and Roger Bernadina as its options in center field. However, that could change if top prospect Bryce Harper makes the team out of spring training and shifts current right fielder Jayson Werth to center. Even if he receives 300-plus at-bats again, Fantasy owners shouldn't expect a huge increase in power and Ankiel should not be considered more than a late-round reserve option in NL-only drafts.
