Lohse not limiting hits lately: Cardinals pitcher Kyle Lohse gave up at least seven hits for the fourth straight start on Sunday night against the Dodgers. He allowed three runs on 11 hits over 5 2/3 innings of work. The right-hander was tagged for one run in the first before a run scored on a double-play ball in the fourth. Then in the sixth, he gave up an RBI single to James Loney and was pulled for Victor Marte after throwing 96 pitches, 66 for strikes. Lohse left in line for the win but the bullpen was unable to hold the lead. Lohse also struck out four and walked one in the no-decision. (Updated 05/20/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Lohse posted a 0.99 ERA over his first four starts this season but since then has allowed 15 earned runs in 28 1/3 innings. His ERA has rise to 2.91 over that span but he is still keeping his team in most games. Part of his success thus far has been the fact that the 33-year-old has just nine walks but since his strikeout totals are not that impressive, continue to view Lohse as more of an option for deeper mixed leagues. His next start is scheduled for Friday against his former team -- the Phillies. In two starts against Philadelphia a year ago, Lohse went 1-1 with a 1.76 ERA. (Updated 05/20/2012).

Dan Haren struck out a career-high 14 batters and didn't walk a batter in his shutout victory over the Mariners. The Braves hit just .150 in a four-game sweep at the hands of the Reds.

05/15/2012 03:13 The Lineup: Red Sox on a roll, Braves have a case of the Mondays
Red Sox lefty Jon Lester threw his first nine-inning complete game since 2010 as Boston has put together a four-game winning streak. In Atlanta, the Braves dropped to 0-6 on Mondays this season.
For a player who missed most of the previous two seasons with forearm injuries, Kyle Lohse's 2011 numbers were more than just encouraging. They were borderline miraculous. He won 14 games with career bests in ERA (3.39) and WHIP (1.17) to go from being an NL-only afterthought to a bona-fide mixed-leaguer. But before you pencil him in as a player to target on Draft Day, note that his season took an ugly turn in the summer months, putting him back on the waiver wire just as quickly as he came off it. From the beginning of June to the end of August, he had a 5.29 ERA in 15 starts, lasting seven innings in only two of them. An optimistic point of view would suggest his struggles stemmed from a finger injury that developed in July and lingered for several months. But a realistic point of view would recognize that he was a mediocre pitcher performing over his head for two months before eventually coming down to earth. Hard to argue with the track record -- or the lack of stuff. Even though Lohse rebounded to post a 1.37 ERA in four September starts, he's a pitcher better left for NL-only leagues. (Updated 3/15/12)
