|Shane Loux to undergo Tommy John surgery |

(6/11/13) Giants reliever Shane Loux is set to undergo Tommy John surgery Wednesday and is done for the season, he tweeted from his personal account.
Loux was once considered a possible rotation option earlier this season, but he was pitching at Triple-A Fresno when he suffered the injury. He likely faces a 12-month recovery, a tough hill for a 33-year-old to climb.

(5/21/13) The Giants have begun to discuss replacements in the rotation for Ryan Vogelsong, who will miss 4-6 weeks after fracturing two bones and dislocating a joint in the pinkie finger on his right hand Monday. The Giants don't have to rush to a decision, however, since they won't need a fifth starter until May 28.
Manager Bruce Bochy said long reliever Chad Gaudin would be considered to replace Vogelsong. MLB.com suggests minor-league pitchers Chris Heston, Michael Kickham and Shane Loux could be considered as well.

(3/15/13) The San Francisco Giants completed another round of roster cuts Friday, optioning pitchers Dan Otero, Jake Dunning, Chris Heston and Sandy Rosario, shortstops Ehire Adrianza and Nick Noonan and outfielders Roger Kieschnick and Juan Perez to Triple-A Fresno. Pitcher Edwin Escobar was sent to Class A San Jose. The team also reassigned Brett Bochy, Boof Bonser, Steve Edlefsen, Heath Hembree, Michael Kickham, Mitch Lively, Shane Loux, Ricky Oropesa, Adam Duvall, Brock Bond and Gary Brown to its minor-league camp.

(9/1/12) The Giants have recalled first baseman Brett Pill and pitcher Jean Machi from Triple-A Fresno Saturday, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. The Giants have also activated first baseman Aubrey Huff and pitchers Brad Penny and Shane Loux from the disabled list. The Giants created some room by moving Freddy Sanchez to the 60-day disabled list.

Brad Penny, who signed with a Japanese team last winter, is back in the big leagues. A starter throughout his career, Penny will be used out of the bullpen by the Giants.

Jered Weaver pitched six innings of two-hit ball in his return from the disabled list and the Los Angeles Angels beat the San Francisco Giants 6-0 on Wednesday night, handing Ryan Vogelsong his first loss in almost seven weeks.
