|Report: Andres Torres drawing interest from up to five teams |
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
(2/14/14) Free-agent outfielder Andres Torres is drawing interest from four or five teams but is waiting for the right opportunity before signing a deal, MLBDailyDish.com reports.
Torres hit .250/.302/.342 with two home runs, 21 RBI and four stolen bases in 272 at-bats with the Giants last season, but his season ended prematurely due to a heel injury that required surgery. The team declined his 2014 option in November, making Torres a free agent.

(8/27/13) Giants outfielder Andres Torres will undergo surgery Wednesday to remove bone spurs in his heel. Torres, who will be a free agent in 2014, is expected to be out at least six months.
|Andres Torres has been a huge disappointment for Fantasy owners since his breakout season in 2010. Since hitting .268 with a .479 slugging percentage, .823 OPS, 16 home runs, eight triples, 43 doubles, 63 RBI and 26 stolen bases ithat season, Torres has hit just .232 with a .336 slugging percentage, .651 OPS, nine home runs, nine triples, 58 doubles, 75 RBI and 36 stolen bases in his last three seasons. Torres returned to San Francisco in 2013 after a disappointing season with the Mets in 2012, but he was limited to 103 games last season and was hardly a factor in Fantasy when he made it into the lineup for the Giants. The Giants declined Torres' contract option, making him a free agent. Torres had August heel surgery, so he might only receive a minor-league deal. Nonetheless, Torres is at the point of his career where he's going to be a backup or platoon outfielder when in the majors. It's safe to leave him off Fantasy rosters.
